What is even worse than having your material used without permisson ( a distant cousin of mine sent in years of my research along with some of her own erroneous work) is a horrible sight I had the misfortune to witness several years ago. When the cds first came out I was up in Berks Co., PA doing some research on my husband's family and a librarian at the historical society was showing a couple how you could download all of these wonderful family trees into your own and have "instant" genealogies. Can you imagine all of the incorrect information being perpetuated forever because people are using this as a substitute for doing the work necessary to document? It reminds me of a complaint recently about work done by members of a certain religion who had done this work for religious reasons and not for public consumption - but then we dont want to go there again.
