Joyce, me name is Meagan Warfle and I have always been curious as to the history of the Lion in Evergreen Cemetery...I couldn't seem to find it anywhere...if you could please e-mail me back some info on it I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Meagan ---------------------- Hi Meagan. The lion once stood in front of one of the nicer homes in Tioga and was later moved to the cemetery. At one time, not too long ago, it was stolen and entered the antiques market. It was located someplace in Virginia, if my memory is correct, and was returned. It is now locked and bolted into a concrete base so that it can not be stolen again. I have photos of it but have probably not put them onto the site yet as the Evergreen Cemetery listing is one I uploaded a long time ago (In Internet terms). Joyce M. It too was stolen. I have photos of it given to me by a friend and may get them online "one of these days" too. That might make an interesting page for the site, Statuary of the Tri-County Cemeteries. When I run out of other things to do (Ha) I will do this one.)
