Hi Patricia, If Jacob Cupp was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania you should be looking in that area for his birth versus Bradford County. Lancaster is in southern Pennsylvania and Bradford is in northern Pennsylvania and few Lancaster residents found their way to Bradford County to settle. I would suggest consulting the recently published "Pennsylvania Births" by John T. Humphrey in 1994. These volumes are by county and cover those counties that primarily saw an influx of German immigrants. For instance Philadelphia County 1644-1765 is a volume of 567 pages and covers records of fifteen churches, primarily German and Lutheran. Most of your libraries in southwestern Pennsylvania will have the series of volumes and Lancaster County is included. Census records do not begin until 1790. J.
