    3. Sorry to post this to the list as this is really an email for Pat Raymond and Carlton Wolfe, but I have misplaced Pat's email. I think your (Pat and Carlton) mutual interest could be a Sally Brown. Will of Obadiah Brown dated 19 Feb 1830. Codicil to Will dated 23 Feb 1836 probated 16 Mar 1836. Will named son Obadiah Jr., and his son Obadiah; daughters Rachel, Sally Brown. I have not seen the actual Will, but Carlton has a copy of this Will. Obadiah lived in northern Columbia Township in Wolfe Hollow. Joanna Sheldon was enumerated in South Creek in 1840 of age 60 and under age 70 with a male child of age 15 and under age 20 in her household (presumed to be Samuel Sheldon Baker). Joanna Sheldon's Will, dated 10 July 1841 named adopted daughter Sally Brown and adopted son Samuel S. Baker. She perhaps d. in 1842 as her Will was probated 15 Mar 1842. Joanna Sheldon was provided for in the Will of Ezekial Baker dated 26 Mar 1836 South Creek Township which named children: Hosea, Benjamin, Rhonda Seymour, heirs of Polly Hall deceased, Sally Seymour, Roena Sergents, and Harriet Johnson, each one $1. Unto Joanna Sheldon who is now living with me the use of the remainder of my property both personal and real estate for her maintainance and support during her natural life with the provision, that the boy which is living with me by the name of Samuel Sheldon Baker, my adopted son is to have his maintainance out of said property with a good education. At the decease of Joanna Sheldon the remaining property, if any remains is to be equally divided among my sons and daughters. Executors, Samuel Pettingil and Truman Baker and guardians to my adopted son Samuel Sheldon Baker. Probated 9 May 1836. My question. Was Sally Brown, daughter of Obadiah Brown and Sally Brown the adopted daughter of Joanna Sheldon one and the same? Naturally, Brown is a very common name and so is the name Sally. Wolfe Hollow in Columbia Township and the Fassett area in South Creek Township where it is believed Ezekial Baker resided are in close proximity to each other and the two townships border each other. My second question is the Joanna Brown of Milton, Cayuga County, New York, who married 2 Apr 1800 at Sheshequin, Obadiah Brown the same person as Joanna Sheldon? I am not sure if this marriage refers to Obadiah Brown, the Revolutionary Soldier who died in Columbia in 1836 or his son Obadiah Jr., b. 1777. If Sally Brown was the daughter of Obadiah Brown, the Revolutionary Soldier, and his wife Penelope Swayze and Obadiah m. (2)Joanna Brown, then Sally could be the step daughter of Joanna and thus called adopted daughter in her Will. However, this would mean that Joanna Brown did not remain the wife of Obadiah Brown, which could be possible, and became Joanna Sheldon. Some of this is certainly conjecture and not fact. Very interesting families and further research is needed. J. Kelsey Jones
