Regarding, customs of the times, etc. of obituaries that Joyce mentioned... The thing that I have noticed is that when the female survivors are listed they are listed as Mrs. Somebody .... "survived by children, Mrs. Robert Gleckner of Canton; Sisters, Mrs. Henry Watrous and Mrs. John Kiljard of Gaines." ...Leaving us to wonder and guess as to who the women really are!!??? (I still haven't figured out exactly who Mrs. Henry Watrous and Mrs. John Kiljard are from this obit.) But you are right, obituary notices are wonderful and are a very important piece of our grand research puzzle. JB Wilson, Beaverton, OR :-) -------------------------- >I so enjoy obits. They really are a wonderful window to a time and place and >community. They reveal the customs, beliefs, biases, inter-relationships and >institutions of the area. It is like going to a place and visiting it when >you go through a scrapbook. Scrapbooks are the BEST. > >Have fun, Joyce M.
