One can imagine the antipication of receiving a civil war photo of a Tioga co. Pa. civil war volunteer and a 3rd great grand father, John K. Kirkpatrick., who died at Antietam in what appeared to be an early skirmish by the bridge..But something is wrong here...This "war-time image" of a young chap, nicely attired in a find hat, sweater, and fancy jacket looks like a banker, not the gaunt lean Clint Eastwood look that so many of the soldiers displayed..This was a young fellow and not the 52 year old father that fell under Burnside. I have asked for confirmation from the donor of this photo and requested from the National Archives military pension. I had assumed, number one mistake in this hobby, that only the wealthy had their posed picture taken and I still don 't know if this is the right guy--Talk about taking it on faith!!!! Beverly
