Hello all, I am new on this list and like so many others I have a brick wall that I can't seem to get around. Any help will be gratefully appreciated. My gr.grandfather was born in Bethany, N. Y. 1842. His name was Robert S. Ellis. I am looking for his father and all I know is that he was born in N. Y. I was looking through the Chemung Co. Elmira area I found a Allen Ellis and the ages of the male children, one seems to fit. Is there any possible way to put a name to Allen's children? According to the 1880 census Robert's mother was born in Pa. so it does seem to me that they must all come from the tri-county area. Thanks for any help at all. Cynthia Ellis cellis@cmc.net
