I'm looking for any information on Anna Morgan b. 4/14/1814 d. 3/25/1888 in Bethlehem, PA, her family and her husband. Anna was the wife of David Wilmot, congressman, judge, etc. I'd also like to know if there's a picture of her available. I'd be happy to share any information I have of interest. Thanks, Donna

Rural Home Cemetery is in "Downtown" Big Flats. Driving from the east on Rt 17 you will pass the airport on the north side of the highway, then the new construction for Exit 50, then pass under a bridge. The cemetery is to the south side of the highway immediately west of the bridge, east of the school. To get there, take exit 49, turn left at the top of the ramp. Drive south to the Tee and turn left. continue straight past the bank, shopping plaza, town offices, and school. There is a church on the corner as the road sweeps left, follow it left and the cemetery will be on your left. There are at least two other cemeteries in town as well in case you come up dry. GlacierHello, The 1840 census for Chemung Co., Catlin, NY lists Patience C. Stevens as head of the family. She is listed there again in the 1850 census and again in 1870. She lives near the Barber family, including Hannah Barber. I believe Hannah, widow of Reuben Barber, was the mother of Patience. >From another source, I have Patience's husband listed as Charles Stevens, but believe he may have died before 1840 since he is not listed in the census. I have four children listed for her: Soliman b. 1825, Nancy b. 1829, Esther b. 1832, and Eliza b. 1833. I'm trying to connect this Stevens family to the Tylor or Perry families. Mary Elizabeth Tylor (1848-1931) married Josiah Perry (1847-1887). In 1880 they lived in Catlin: Josiah was age 33, b. PA, stone mason; both parents b. PA; wife Mary was 32, she & both parents b. PA; Cora age10, Edward age 7 & Melvin (or Maelvin)age 11 mo., all b. PA, Oliver Perry 24 & wife Delia 24 live nearby. Both b. PA. (Not sure how they might be related.) Josiah's father was Hazard Perry. His wife might have been Hannah. Mary Elizabeth's father was Everett Tylor. Mary Elizabeth was probably married a second time to Mr. Racklyeft. If you know anything about these families, I'd like to hear from you. Pat (Rowe) Stone, Rochester, NY

I believe someone posted recently about the Pennsylvania Archives series and if there was information relating to Bradford and Tioga Counties. The Bradord County Historical Society has the complete set of published Pennsylvania Archives. There were several series and the second series alone contained thirty volumes. Vol XVIII of the Second Series published in 1890 involves Documents Relating to the Connecticut Settlement in the Wyoming Valley. The table of contents for this volume - Minutes of the Susquehanna Company pgs 1-123 An Examination of the Connecticut Claim 125-214 Connecticut Records Examined by Pennsylvania 215-276 The Dutch Records of New Netherland 277-322 Letters from the Pennsylvania Claimants 323-388 Letters from Secretary of Land Office 389-430 Letters from the Commissioners 431-514 Book of the Fifteen Townships 515-572 Journal of the Commissioners, 1810 573-609 Miscellaneous Papers Relating to the Wyoming Controversy 611-780 The section entitled Journal of the Commissioners contains the disputes in "old" Ulster Township, Bradford County with lots of names and dates of settlement given and if their claims were rejected or accepted. The Bradford County Historical Society Annual Book Sale will be held today (November 30) from noon to 3:00 p.m., at the Bradford County Historical Society. This event is held once a year and most books sold by the society will be discounted by 10%. The annual book sale is a great place to pick up a Christmas gift for that hard to buy for person on your holiday shopping list. I also believe there is no sales tax during this sale, which can be done once or twice a year, but don't quote me on that part. J. Kelsey Jones
I believe that in the folk song "The Erie Canal", the refrain line is ". ...fifteen miles on the Erie Canal," meaning the mules, mule boys or both were changed each fifteen miles. There are lots of discriptors of the canal activities in the song, once again reminding us of music being a mirror of history, if we just take time to listen. Hello, Sorry if you recieved this email twice...... I am researching a local violin maker. Edwin Johnson was born in the 1850's in IL. and moved to Orwell by 1880 where he was employed as a cabinet maker. He married Isabell Chaffee in 1876. He was a violin maker in Sayre until about 1926 when he died. Does anyone have additional info on his violins or other historical information?? I heard there was an article on him that appeared in the Evening Times or Daily Review in 1975.....would anyone have that or know the date?? Thanks in advance, Mark Orshaw Athens, PA

There were mule paths along the Erie canal for mules who pulled the barges. Hi you all. Many thanks for your responses. I think I didn't make myself clear enough, though. I'm looking for a death date for Alfred Vine Baldwin and his sister Jeanne Antoinette Baldwin. They are both buried in Glenwood cemetery, but their stones give only the year of death, Alfred in 1911 and Jeanne in 1926. I know Jeanne died in Troy, but I'm not sure about Alfred. Last I heard of him was 1890 in Utica. He was a fairly successful artist and a cousin of mine. Another cousin inherited two pictures he painted and is trying to develop a history so when she goes the kids won't just trash the watercolors. Which are really nice. As the family historian, resident genealogist and detective with a large curiousity bump, I'm the designated 'findee'. My end aim is an obit for Alfred. Since I'm on the west coast a definite date and place of death is needed to start that search. With those in hand I can approach libraries. It's a great bunch of people out there and thanks again for taking the time to respond. Karyl Hubbard karylh@yahoo.com
Hi Does anyone have a phone number for Carol Jacobs over in Windham area. I have tried to respond to her email but her mailbox has been full for over two weeks. Thanks, Joyce M. Tice
Does anyone know who to contact to get a burial record for Glenwood Cemetery? I've written, with no response, and had a friend in the Tri-Counties area call. All she gets is an answering machine. And no return call. I just need to know one date of death/burial. Place would be nice, too. But definite dod is what I'm after. Thanks for any help. Karyl Hubbard karylh@yahoo.com

Hi everyone, If any of you know how I might be able to get in contact with Bill Bower who is doing a program about Barclay Mountain at the Bradford County Library on Thursday, please let me know. Also, if anyone will be attending and had planned on tape recording it, I would be interested in getting a copy of it. My great aunt, JEMMIA (Jemima) DRYSDALE married JOSEPH PELTON, who owned a coal mine on Barclay Mountain, so I would be very interested in any information about that area. Thanks so much !
