Hi All, Need some help. I've downloaded from Heritage Quest Online all of the 1790 Luzerne Co, PA census except for one page which apparently is not available from their site. I believe it is a broken link. I've transcribed the rest of the census for the Tri-Counties site, but need the single page to complete the project. It is page 4 at Heritage Quest and they identify it as follows: year: 1790 State: PA County: Luzerne Township: No Twp. Listed U.S. Census Reel # M637 Roll: 8 Page: 146 The last name on page 3 is Coleman, the first name of page 5 is Downing. Estimate that the missing page contains some 75 names, beginning with "C" and ending with "D". Can somebody with access to Ancestry.com or elsewhere other than Heritage Quest please download the image and send it to me at the senders address of this message? I'll have the transcribed census in Joyce's hands within minutes of receiving it. Thanks a lot! Dick -- Dick McCracken Towanda, PA Plan your Work... Work your Plan...

Earl- I need more exact directions. For example in Mansfiled do you mean the one next to the Pizza Hut restaurant out at the North edge of town? That is Prospect. And near Roseville do you mean the one up Pumpkin Hill Road at the top(abandon and screaming HELP), or possibly the one across the creek and up to your right on the hill across from the pond ??--near where the Baptist Church was at one time(Rev Myron Rockwell, my gggrandfather). Jane- On occasional trips to Wellsboro from far away, we have been able to find everything easily in the Tioga County Court House. And I will tell you this! I am sure some info could be put on line such as Orphans Court records, but how would you put on line all those boxes of stuff(for my lack of knowledge) including inventories and court records(mortgage pay off slips, etc). Big Job!! To List: I had not seen it on this list but a newsletter from another organization to which both Ralph & I belonged reported that he had passed away. I found his obituary on-line at CQnews and learned that he passed away in Albany NY on 22 Sep 2004 at the age of 78. I never met Ralph but we had a number of exchanges of email since we had some common ancestry. I was more familiar with his name from its many appearances on the Tri-Counties website. Apparently, a number of years ago, Ralph was extremely active in reading cemeteries. I am sure he will be missed by all. John Dunham Cortland NY
IS IT POSSIBLE TO FIND wills and surrogate records for Tioga County (1800-1900) on line anywhere? If not what is the best source? Thanks Jane
I need to know the name of the caretaker of the Austinburg Cemetery PA Cemetery (Woodlawn). Thanks Jane C. King

Thank you to the more than 30 (so far) of the list members who responded to my request for advice regarding the posting of information on living people in my family. I have contacted World Connect as well as added post-ems to the incorrect information regarding the previous generation. He has, at least, removed the first names and dates from the living family members. I will also be contacting the man's ISP about his personal website which has not been changed . Thank you to everyone who responded. It's nice to know that I am not the only one this has happened to. I will continue to share in the future - but will limit my sharing to one or 2 pieces of information at a time or tell the person where they can find the information for themselves. ( Let them pay for the records like I did!!!!!) I wish all of you the very best. You are a fantastic group . Joan in Lowell, Ma
Thanks to all of you who have responded to my query for Cemetery Names. I have found just what I was looking for thanks to you and Joyce Tice's web site as far as the Roseville Cemetery is concerned, but the Prospect Cemetery apparently is not up-to-date as I think I have grandparents buried there and they are not listed. Thanks again. Earl Matteson 12 Holiday Hill Endicott, NY 13760 ematteson@stny.rr.com
Can someone tell me the official name of the cemetery in Mansfield, PA. It lies just NW of the small plaza along rte 15. Also the name of the one in Roseville, PA just SW of the villiage. Thanks, Earl Matteson 12 Holiday Hill, NY 13760 ematteson@stny.rr.com
Yes, and it was incomplete. I should send her an email and have her remove it. (By the way, IO had sent the information to her). Yes I have had that experience. Currently there is Spencer-Lefler info on GenCircles which is erroneous(For example it mixes up Tioga County,NY, and Tioga County,Pa.) but it also gets names wrong. I have posted corrections but the one who put it all there said she doesn't care and will get to it some day. This was a couple of years ago. Has anyone on this list had any experience with sharing information with someone and then having it turn up on the internet without your permission? Or credit? I have repeatedly emailed the person and asked them to remove it. What can I do? They included info on living people. Thanks Joan in Lowell, Ma
I just went to Ancestry and printed it. If you can't, then give me a snail-mail address and I'll mail it to you. Where would I be able to see a copy of the card to obtain additional information about Albert? Thanks. Judy Cuyle ______________________________
Thank you, one and all, for your thoughtfulness and generosity in responding. Ninety percent of you said, "Heritage Quest and Ancestry.com through the local library." I took that advice and found relatives I didn't know I had. This is fun stuff! Thanks especially to grannytoad, Amy, and Pat. Mike
LDS research centers have them on film, or at least 1855 & 1865 together. If they'd put 1855 & 65 on disc I'd buy it inna Noo York minnit. Kaye in Texas __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Take Yahoo! Mail with you! Get it on your mobile phone. http://mobile.yahoo.com/maildemo
From: "Sarah P Hall" <sph221@stny.rr.com> >NY had STATE CENSUS every 5yrs between the Federal ones. They are all available in Cooperstown at the Fenimore Museum and of course Albany. Don't know if or where in the Western part of the State. That isn't entirely accurate as there was no New York State census in 1795, 1805, and 1815. The New York State census begin in 1825 and are every ten years, skipping 1845, and 1885, again in 1892, and then 1905, 1915, 1925. The 1855 and 1865 census enumerations are very good and give much more information than the federal census. For Chemung County they are at the County Clerk's office on Lake Street in book form. The Steele Library did have some and perhaps all of them now. Most counties have them locally at the county level, local library or historical society in original form or on microfilm. 1825 and 1835 for Southport, Chemung County are online on the Tri County site maintained by Joyce. That is why we do genealogy-we look out there at > nothing, throw out some names, and then, suddenly, things hook up and there is > something out there!! And Hector is a hard place. Hector may be hard for research, but it is one of the most beautiful places in America!!!!! We just worked on the application yesterday to nominate it as one of the most "Distinctive Places in America." Twelve get nominated each year in the United States. It is the heart of Finger Lakes Wine Country on the east side of Seneca Lake near Watkins Glen with some excellent restaurants for a rural area. If you want a unique place to visit I highly recommend it and be sure to check out Skyland Farm besides the wineries. It has such close ties to the Tri-County area because a large number of settlers left Hector and settled in northwestern Bradford County in Wells Township and neighboring Jackson Township in Tioga County.
