Hi All Friends and Guests of Tri-Counties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Tice I have just added three new pages to the Obituary Collection of the site. The Obituary Section can be reached from Box 8A of the Online Research Library. Pages 107, 108, 109 are new today. These pages are part of a scrapbook that includes obits from ALL THREE counties. Don't put your county blinders on in using this or other resources on the site. This is the first addition I have made to this section since February 28, 1999, so it is a real treat to put them up. I can think of no better way of understanding a community than through an obituary scrapbook. It was the first scrapbook I obtained that was very instrumental in triggering my founding of Sullivan-Rutland Genealogy Project. They are extremely valuable. For those of you who do not have the luxury or community interest of sifting through a scrapbook, these will eventually be included in the Search Engine that you can access if you go through the "Front Door" of the site at Tri-Counties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Tice There are links on the Obit Page for pages 110 and 111. They will take you no place yet. Please do not notify me that those pages are not present. I know it. They will be. For efficiency I sometimes have to add links that are not functional yet. Have fun with the new pages. Joyce M. Tice

Kelsey & list, We visited the Thompson Hill Cemetery in March. There are 27 flat stones and 3 obelisks. Some of the stones were blank from extreme weathering. There were also a few stones outside the fenced area that were not readable. I made only a few notes of additions or changes to the info on the site, beyond what has been added already about William and Sophia Houtz Thompson (my 3gr grandparents). I'd be interested if you locate anything along the southern border near Snedekerville. The cemetery there has only Potters and I am trying to find where the Snedekers are buried. Lee Kinnan Fazzari Original message follows: Hi List, Does anyone know if there are other cemeteries within the actual boundaries of South Creek Township besides the five listed below: Checkerville Gillett Churchyard (same as Gillett Lower) Upper Gillett Moore (sometimes refered to as Dunning) Thompson I would assume there has to be a few family cemeteries somewhere throughout the township and these need to be recorded. I am also wondering where some of the early settlers along South Creek and in the Fassett area might be buried such as the Baker, Stiles, and some other families. Some of these families in the Fassett area such as the Andrus family and the Asa Moore family are buried over the state line in the Roushy Cemetery on Route 14 in the Town of Ashland, Chemung County. The early families in the southern part of the township seem to be buried in the Moore Cemetery and the earliest dated marker found in that cemetery is 1825. If anyone has any information to share on other cemeteries in the township, even if one marker, please let me know. It would also appear from the list on the website that the Thompson Cemetery needs to be redone as in many instances there is just a year of death for a person. J. Hi--I noticed on the list that you mentioned the name Fassett. I live in Az. and have not been in much of Pennsylvania, but many of my grandfather's ancesters came from the Tioga-Bradford area, some having lived on Armenia Mountain in "Ceaseville, Kiffville and McIntosh Hollow". Can you tell me where that is?There is mention in a genealogy book I have (on the McIntosh-Kiff-Cease and related families) of the burial of Alexander Cease(1812-1891) and his wife Julia Ann McIntosh(1814-1869) .It says Julia is buried "on the old Burton Fassett Farm, Tioga County", and Alexander Cease is buried "with his wife in the old Cease Cemetary on the Fletcher farm near the Tioga County line." Is there a cemetary there known by both of these names, and is it a small one that has been incorporated into the cemetaries you mention or is it separate? Thank you far any information you may have. Your best source to answer all of these questions is Tri-County Genealogy Site of Joyce M. Tice If you enter the site at its "Front Door" you will find a search engine which will guide you. You will also find the How to Use the Site page which will explain the structure of the site and the resources it contains. Everything you have asked in your note is answered on the site. The townships and cemeteries you mentioned are all there. Familiarity with the site is necessary to make the most of your research experience. << Does anyone have information on the "whatever" Cemetery? >> This is an answer to the above question and all like it. All information that we have goes on the site as soon as I can get it there. If the information is not presently on the site, guests can either be patient until we get it there or can look elsewhere just as they would do before the site existed. Or, better yet, they can obtain the information on their own and submit it to the site. Remember, that participation in the site is a two way street. All guests are encouraged to submit to the site as well as use its resources. If you find something missing, help us get it. It is my intention to get all 700 plus cemeteries of the three counties online. We already have a number of cemeteries online that is truly amazing and not matched by any other area in the country. The more people helping me do that, the better. Our local group of participants who can go out and read cemeteries is very small compared to the much larger group waiting for us - I might say clamoring. We are all volunteers and we do as much as we can and often far more than we should. So all I can say is be patient and bite your tongue. If it is not on the site, we do not have it - yet. Thanks and good luck. Joyce M. Tice Tri-Counti es Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Tice
Hi List, I just had a telephone conversation with June Mickley who lives at Dunning in South Creek Township. June was one of the persons responsible for putting together the book "South Creek Sesquicentennial 1833-1983." June attends the Fassett Church and will ask some of the older residents, one in particular who lives on Roaring Run, if they have any knowledge of any other South Creek Cemeteries. J. Kelsey Jones
HI Roland, et.al. I stayed off a day also because of the virus, so you may be correct about that, but on Friday I went and downloaded the latest virus files from Symantec that included the Love virus protection. (Actually my personality is protection enough :) ) The important thing is not to download or open any attached files that you are not certain of. Knock on wood, but I have not received any emails with this attachment so I have not had to delete it at all. As much email as I get and as many files as I receive from people submitting to the site, I have never had a problem (knocking fiercely on wood) because anything that does not seem reasonable, I delete without downloading or opening. All my computers in the house (five of them) are on a network and I have both Norton and McAffee virus protection on all of them. In addition to exchanging files with site helpers regularly, I also am exchanging files regularly with my accounting system clients. Only once in eleven years of being in business have I contracted a virus. Our entire Cortland Office network got a virus and my partner had to reformat all the computers a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately, I go to the office so seldom I had not hooked into that network in months. Viruses are terrible, but you can protect yourself. Joyce M. Tice
