    3. In 1995 some one posted this query and a Yahoo search picked it up from archives I cannot find any trace of this organization, and I tried several ways, archived 1995 response was "Check with a large geneology library. There is a Pocahontas descendants group similar to the Daughters of the American Revolution" If so they are not online nor do they have a web page Not even listed in ancestry.com records Dee ----- Original Message ----- From: "Charlyne" <clynk@mindspring.com> To: <PABRADFO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 14, 2000 3:47 AM Subject: [PABRADFO] Daughters of Pocahontas > HI List, > I need some help again. 2. Hi All, I just returned a while ago from taking photos at Checkerville Cemetery where we have a good sized crew at work. Many thanks to them. It is hot and humid and hard work. On the drive back home I determined to track down my ancestor, the elusive Amanda Sutton, who married Philip Tice and I realized that to get the 1820, 1830, and 1840 Chemung and Baldwin Censuses I need to determine who in the neighborhood had a daughter the right age, I will have to go to Steele on Monday and make copies. Bummer!! After all the time (every minute I can spare and more) I spend working on the site to make research materials available to the many hundreds of you out there, when I need something, I have to go to the library because these particular resources are not yet on my site. Is there no justice? (Just a little good natured spouting off - so please don't take it too seriously.) However, if any kind soul out there would be willing to tackle some of the Chemung County census records for the site, we would be most grateful. We have so many participants for Bradford County, quite a few for Tioga, and they are a very scarce resource as far as Chemung County is concerned. Joyce M. 3. There was a Redburn, PA, located on RT. 14, south of Tioga County line in Lycoming County; between Roaring Branch and Ralston. One part of Roaring Branch is in Tioga County and the other part is in Lycoming Co. Ralston is in lycoming Co. I think there were some coal mining families that lived there first but years later Francis Bunn of Union Twp. bought a huge tract of timber and he housed his men in the old abandoned houses at Redburn. There was an iron furnace built there but was never put into operation because the owner was shot to death in a Philadelphia hotel - over a woman, what else! Barb Conrad

    3. In "The Annals of Jackson Township 1768-1875", by Francis H. Maneval (which can be purchased at The Tioga County Historical Society, 120 Main St., Wellsboro, PA, 16901): 1768 The treaty at Fort Stanwix, NY, (now Rome, NY) gave southern New York State and northern Pennsylvania to the settlers on Nov. 5. 1772 Northumberland County was formed from lands of north central PA on March 21. In it, Tioga Twp was formed from lands joining NYS south to the present line between Tioga County and Lycoming County, March 21 and Lycoming Twp was formed from lands south of Tioga Twp to the Susquehanna River, March 21. 1795 Lycoming County was formed from lands of lycoming Twp, April 13. 1824 Jackson Twp, Lycoming County, was formed in March If the above is true then Liberty Boro was never in Lycoming County or the earlier Lycoming Twp. The book has loads of information on Liberty and Jackson pioneer settlers. Barb Conrad Canton, PA

    3. John Dawson and Hannah White were married c 1797 in Jackson Twp. Lycoming Cty. Rachel Dawson was born 1798. She married Jacob S. Keagle, Jr. of Liberty in 1816. John and Hannah were married prior to the formation of Tioga Cty.in 1800. Did Jackson Twp. include present day Liberty Boro and Twp.at that time ? There is a "family" of Dawsons buried in Shumway Hill Cemetery in Charleston Twp. Does anyone have any information about these families ? Did Rachel have siblings. Many of the children of Rachel and Jacob Keagle remained in Liberty. Anything at all will be helpful. Jim
