Hi All Friends and Guests of Tri-Counties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Tice I have just added a Woodmen of the World page to the flagholder section of the site. About a year ago we had a discussion on the Tri-County mail list about the log "tombstones" we find in cemeteries and whether or not they had anything to do with the WOTW. Since then I have photographed dozens of the logs and tree stumps, but finally came across one that is clearly a WOTW log. Take a look in the flagholder section that links directly from the "Front Door" page of Tri-Coun ties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Hi All Friends and Guests of Tri-Counties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Tice I have just added a full history of the Schools of Warren Township to the site. This is a reprint of the July 9 article in the Sunday Review of Towanda. Editor, Jim Towner, has kindly given us permission to reprint Jill Darling's excellent and thorough review of Warren's schools. Thanks also to Dick McCracken for typing it up for us and submitting it. You can reach the article from the Warren Township page of the site or from the Schools page located at Box 8B of the Online Research Library. http://www.rootsweb.com/~srgp/jmtindex.htm Joyce M. Tice
Hi All, For any of you who used the four Overton Township cemetery listings I uploaded this weekend, I have just received notice that they are PARTIAL listings ONLY. I apologize to any inconvenienced by that note not being on those listings. I have uploaded those listings again with that information. ALSO, if there are any guests who are local to that area, we do still need COMPLETE listings of the Overton Township cemeteries. Joyce M. Can some one please let me know what cemeteries are near Moravia, NY as my father stayed in Moravia when he went to my uncle's funeral in 1922. I have the date my uncle James P. Sinclair died Sept. 22, 1922 but do not have where he was buried. He lived in Mottville and Jordan, NY but have written there and I could not get a death certificate. His daughter Sarah lived in Moravia and imagine she made the funeral arrangements. She was about 62 yrs. old at that time. Her name was Sarah Delano, thought he might have been buried in the Delano plot (if there was one). Hope some one can help me. Zelma Anderson

Hi All, thanks to all of you who sent birthday greetings. I don't check the address I get mail list mail on frequently enough, but I got so many e cards o my regular address I thought someone must have posted it. It was a relief to see that someone had because I was feeling very intimidated by all those good memories. Thanks again. Joyce M. Tice - another year older (and wiser???) Tri-Counties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Tice
Carolyn, Thanks for your information. FYI, Asa Place married Nancy Dutcher and there children were Sally, Hanna, Betty, Jacob (born about 1810), Charles (born about 1812), Levi (born 1824) and James. I don't show a Freeman or Catherine, so either Catherine is from another line or I am missing a child. I don't show Catherine as a grandchild of Asa either, which doesn't make sense anyway because of her birthdate. I have some info of earlier Places from New Hampshire. I will check for a Catherine and I will let you know if I find something. What was the advantage of filing for a civil war pension??Why not file the application? Did one need a lawyer? Did they make it difficult for the survivor's family to fill out the form? Need some help on this question since I am unable to find a file on a 2nd great grandfather. Thank you, Beverly Barry Brunt
Hi all, I have added more flagholders to existing pages and some new pages as well. Where individual organizations may have had one flagholder example when I first put them online, I may now have two to six different examples per organization. Flagholder pages I have added more examples to today include, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Knights of Pythias, Auxiliary to Brotherhood of Railroad Trainsmen, Brotherhood of Railroad Trainsmen, Order of Eastern Star, Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen, Knights Templar - Grand Encampment Others I have updated on previous days are many. Check them all out as most have had additions. There are now over eighty organizations represented in addition to the military examples. As usual, I have created something far in excess of what I ever thought would happen. There is just so much out there that is interesting it is hard to turn one's back on it. Enjoy the new pages at the Flagholder section of Tri-Counties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Tice Joyce M. Tice
Hi list; I was forced to abandon my original genealogy website for my family as I was unable to edit it. I now have a new one with information on Bradford County ancestors. Surnames Preston, Post, Fisk, Glass, Guess, and many more. I have also linked it to Joyce's website. It is bigger and better than the old one including family pictures never on-line previous. Please visit and let me know what ya think. http://brucepreston.homestead.com/index.html Sincerely; Bruce Preston in Independence, MO _______________________________________________________________________ Free Unlimited Internet Access! Hi All Friends and Guests of Tri-Counties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Tice I have just uploaded an entire scrapbook to the Obituary and Clippings section of the site. You can reach this section from Box 8A of the Online Research Library. The new pages are pages 120 through 125. The Merrill Scrapbook includes obits and clippings from all three of our counties but concentrates on Elmira, Horseheads, Southport and the areas of Tioga and Bradford Counties just over the state line from the Elmira area. I have decorated the pages with six antique postcards, primarily of bridges and dams, from my collection. As those of you familiar with the site know, new pages will not be included yet in the indices from which the search engine pulls. The greatest benefit of scrapbooks is giving us the opportunity to browse. Inevitably we run across something great we would never have thought to look for. Joyce M. Tice Tri-Coun ties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Tice
