    1. [TriCounty] New at Tri-Counties
    2. Hi All, I could not shut down for the night without giving you at least one new page today. I have added a turn of the century Milan mail carrier photo to the 1900 Online Museum. Check it out at <A HREF=" http://www.rootsweb.com/~srgp/jmtindex.htm ">Tri-Counties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Tice</A> My new PT Cruiser is sitting in a railroad yard in Albany waiting for a full load to come to Cortland. So the long awaited event will occur this week. Tomorrow I'll be touring the western part of Tioga County with Linda Cracraft of Arizona who is here on a visit. She has been a long time helper to me and I am looking forward to meeting her. 1. [TriCounty] JOYCE EARNS MORE KUDOS !!!
    2. Dick McCracken
    3. Good Morning Listens! This morning's edition of The Daily Review, premier news published for the consumption of we in Bradford/Sullivan Counties, contains the following, very positive letter. Congratulations, Joyce!!! The Daily Review, 9/12/2000, page 4; Your Opinion (Letters to the Editor). Quote Area is gold mine for those seeking history of their ancestors EDITOR: I wholeheartedly agree with Jean Dubert Everingham's Aug. 25 comments regarding the very friendly and cooperative atmosphere created by the knowledgeable employees and volunteers at the Bradford County Historical Society and the Bradford County Courthouse, while doing genealogical research. Hopefully most genealogy related visits result in good, positive feelings associated with having found some new genealogical information. Conversely, if nothing new is found, it still can be a memorable and positive experience due to the friendly, cooperative environment created by the employees and volunteers working at these locations. I have an additional comment which is not meant to detract from any of the previous complimentary remarks. Another are where Bradford, Tioga and Chemung counties currently excel on a national level, and yes even on a global basis, is with the outstanding genealogical and historical Internet website for our area hosted by Joyce M. Tice beginning with an index page at http://www. rootsweb.com/~srgp/jmtindex.htm. Joyce, along with volunteers from all over the United States, has transcribed a multitude of local county historical, census, cemetery, etc. records, thereby creating one of the premier county genealogical websites. However, even if you are not interested in your ancestors, or anything associated with genealogy and area history, please take some time to view the multitude of outstanding colored photos of typical scenes, flowers, foliage, old post cards, etc. from the Bradford, Tioga and Chemung counties areas that Joyce has posted on each individual web page at this website. You will more than likely be amazed at the vivid color and beauty from our own back yard, which has been posted for all the world to see. If perhaps you do not have a personal computer, you should be able to view the individual pages at this website on a computer at your local puclic library. As you will soon see, this website is definitely another tribute for our area. Tom Foreman, Towanda. Unquote I'd also add that Jim Towner, Publisher of The Daily Review, has been most cooperative and helpful by permiting copyrighted material from this newspaper to be placed on the web site for the benefit of all. It is a wonderful public service which many of use who use the site have not recognized. My thanks to both Joyce Tice and Jim Towner! 1. [TriCounty] Pandora's School Box
    2. Hi All, School Souvenir booklets continue to come in in all forms. AND guess who found another one in her own house? Yes, I did - a 1904 Elk Run Sunday School booklet that was my grandmother's. I was looking for some church photos my grandfather had - did not find them, but found the 1904 booklet and an 1899 school award to my grandfather, and a whole catalog of autos for 1904 that was my uncle's (he collected antique cars). What a lot of wonderful junk we have under our noses. Our grandparents' generation saved so many more things than we do, partly because they had so little that it had more value to them. We have everything we can think of and not much of it has any importance to us. Also, when I get to the bridge project, you will not believe the bridge photos that have come in over the weekend. Incredible things, covered bridges I never knew existed all over our three counties. And a beautiful photo of a train crossing the valley wide trestle bridge in Trowbridge in Jackson Township. What a thrill to see them. I have been picking away at renovating the township pages and one by one they are looking better. Anyway, even though this school thing is starting to feel like Pandora's box has flown open - not with bad things, but with wonderful memorabilia - just keep it coming. Thanks to all, Joyce M. 1. [TriCounty] Tri-County Special Treat Sunday 11 AM
    2. Hi All Friends and Guests of <A HREF=" http://www.rootsweb.com/~srgp/jmtindex.htm ">Tri-Counties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Tice</A> I have just added the 1700 plus burials, brand new May 2000 reading of Rome Cemetery to the newly "modernized" Rome Township Page. As a special treat I have illustrated the pages with photos of carved tombstone willows found in Rome Cemetery. There is also a thorough coverage with photos of the Bliss Memorial in Rome Cemetery. For those of you who want to see the willows but who have no other reason to view Rome Cemetery, I have added a Special Feature item to the Rome Township page called Willows of Rome. It includes all the willow pictures illustrating the cemetery pages on a separate easily viewable page. Warning - those of you with addictive personalities like my own- don't get hooked on these beautiful willows. You can reach Rome from the Tri-County Township Index of <A HREF=" http://www.rootsweb.com/~srgp/jmtindex.htm ">Tri-Counties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. 1. [TriCounty] Genealogical Biographies of Western Pa. Immigrants
    2. Greetings, This will be the last post that I will make for a long time, as I am drained from doing this project. On my site I have compiled the following information in my "All Things Section" of my site located at: http://www.geocities.com/geojenk Be patient as I have a lot of great stuff packed on the pages till I can tweak them for faster loading. Detailed History of McKeesport, Pa Genealogy and Biographies of Early McKeesporters (These are very detailed genealogical biographies on close to 400 individuals that immigrated to McKeesport from other countries/states.) Pictures and Biographies of Prominent Early McKeesporters (Part of above) Western Pennsylvania Family Group Genealogies (Genealogical Biographies on close to 400 family groups that lived in Western Pa. Includes families country of origin where applicable) Biographies of Service Men (WWI) (Men and women who served in WWI from the W. Pa. Area. Detailed info concerning their service record and also a lot of their pictures.) Pictures of Life in 1900s - Western Pa. (Close to 60 pictures showing how life was in W. Pa. during the beginning of the 1900s. There are some people on these pics that may be reconizable. Some immigrant group pics.) Please remember these sources of info are not related to my family research efforts. I have done this project with the intention of sharing the info. I get no financial gain from this effort as my site sells absolutely nothing. Good Luck!!! 1. [TriCounty] Tri-County Saturday work
    2. Hi All, I don't know what's going on at Rootsweb, but I have been uploading new school souvenir booklets all day, and sometimes they show up on the site and sometimes they don't. Apparently they have been periodically switching to some backup server with old pages. You will see that sometimes the School page has a count of 1400 and then 1800 plus and then back to 1400 and the list is shorter again. Anyway, there's a lot of new stuff there, when you can get to it. Oddly, the main page of the site is also a new upload today with a map added, and that is fine and it is in the same directory as the souvenir section. Who knows? Joyce M. Tice <A HREF=" http://www.rootsweb.com/~srgp/jmtindex.htm ">Tri-Coun ties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Tice</A>

    2. Hi All Friends and Guests of <A HREF=" http://www.rootsweb.com/~srgp/jmtindex.htm ">Tri-Counties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Tice</A> This morning I have uploaded three more pages of the 1920s school photos Bill Benson sent in. They are from Athens and Barclay townships. You can reach them from the School Souvenir page. I also added the Swartwood Cemetery of Van Etten. You can reach that from the newly renovated Van Etten township page available form the Tri-CountyTownship Index. 1. [TriCounty] Tri-Counties Friday 7:30
    2. Hi All, I have added a little to the school souvenir page. For those of you who have permanent or occasional trouble with the site links in my email, it should not matter. If you have the main page of the site in your bookmarks, you can get to it very easily with just a click whether or not that email link works at any particular time. The correct address to have bookmarked is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~srgp/jmtindex.htm If that is on your list of favorites, a single click will get you to it and you can navigate easily from there. I do not mention this frequently as I am assuming all subscribers to the mail list already have it bookmarked. However, I was reminded today that there are people so new to this they did not know about bookmarks. We are still in a phase of new people signing on to the Internet for the first time on a daily basis. Every day I get one or several pieces of mail from people who have discovered the site for the first time and some are very very new to running their computers. SO, for the newcomers, just bookmark the site in your Favorites list and you can get back there in a flash. In AOL you just go to the Favorites image and click Add Top Window to Favorites when you already have the Main Tri-County page open, In Netscape, you go to Communicator - Bookmarks - and click Add to Bookmarks, again with the main page of Tri-Counties already open. That automatically adds it to your list. In the other software it is pretty much the same. Also for the newcomers, once you get to the site at the main page, please read the How to Use the Site page which explains the main features of the site and which will give you a jump start on figuring out its structure so that you can find what you want quickly, or take the slow and leisurely browse mode if you wish. Another tip for the newcomers is use the tools in Windows to help you. When you see a URL (site address beginning with http) in an email that you want to try, just Highlight it by dragging your mouse with the right button suppressed over the text to copy it (Edit Copy) Then go to (Move your cursor) where you need to put the address and use Edit Paste. That will put the entire address where you need it and prevent typing errors. In any event, just have a good time in the site. It has been four years in development and you will not cover it all in a day. It represents a whole world over 200 years, so just enjoy the journey. Good luck and success, Joyce M. Tice <A HREF=" http://www.rootsweb.com/~srgp/jmtindex.htm ">Tri-Counties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Tice</A>
