This bible is on Rootsweb Missing Links Vol 7 #21 o SCAIFE Bible found in a used book store in Mansfield, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. The following names were listed: Margaret, possibly Genie (hard to read due to stain), and Thomas. All were born in the 1860s and the times of birth are also given. The Bible is only partly intact - it goes up to Jeremiah, chapter III. There are several calling cards among the pages. Because of the condition of the Bible the owner of the shop did not charge me, so I will be glad to pass it along at the same price. If you would like to claim this, please put SCAIFE BIBLE in the subject line of your reply. Pat [email protected]
Yes, and it should be spelled "saddler" A saddler commonly makes and sells saddles, bridles, reins, and other tack and related items, and is a skilled leatherworker. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ferne Johnson" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, May 25, 2002 5:56 PM Subject: [Tri-Counties] What Occupation is a Sadler? > Found one of my husband's ancesters in the 1850 Census with the Occupation > of Sadler. Hi everyone, I am going on a road trip tomorrow to some cemeteries in Tiago Co! (That always sounds so morbid!) Is anyone able to give me some locations/directions? I live in Elmira, NY. Whitaker /Janquish Cemetery - Covington King Hill Cemetery - Sullivan Township North Union Cemetery - Union Township I see where Covington is on my PA map, but I cannot find Sullivan or Union. Thank you so much!! Jeanette Sheliga [email protected] PS - If anyone wants me to take any pictures for them, just let me know - I'd be happy to!
Is anyone researching the DIMMICK surname in Tioga County? I was researching my JOHNSON ancestors and found an F.E. Dimmick in the 1900 census in Farmington Twp. His wife was Minnie Butler, who later married Ray C. Johnson, who is in my line. I'm trying to determine of F.E Dimmick died and Minnie remarried, or they divorced. If anyone has an F.E. Dimmick in their line I'd love to hear from you. Dave Johnson __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? LAUNCH - Your Yahoo! Music Experience http://launch.yahoo.com

My great great grandfather John B. Gorham wrote about being unable to do any work for nearly two months as he was suffering from erysipelas in the "Letters to Mary BURNS Gorham (letter #03). My research said it was an acute inflamation of the skin formerly called St. Anthony's Fire. I didn't know it could be fatal, but I suppose under the right conditions any bacterial infection can. Hi, yes, it is the right spelling, and according to a two-year span of personal family letters in my possession, evidently it was quite prevalent in the 1860's. There was even a doctor in Iowa, according to one of the letters, who specialized in this disease, and was noted for his successful cures. Sometimes it caused much painful swelling of the face as well as the inflamed tissues. I'm currently restoring a small cemetery in western Bradford County. One of the oldest gravestones in the cemetery has fallen off its standard (base) and fractured in three pieces. I've contacted a direct descendant of the person whose gravestone is fractured, and she would like to have this gravestone repaired and returned to an upright position. She's elderly and resides in Florida so I offered to help her find someone to repair the gravestone. I've searched the Internet, trying to find a business or person who repairs gravestones in the tri-counties area. I have not been successful in finding anyone willing to mend the old gravestone and secure it on a standard or base. Do you know of a local (tri-counties) business/person who can perform this type of gravestone repair? Any help would be much appreciated. Paul Newell Ellicott City, MD
