No big deal, I guess, but Stueben should actually be spelled Steuben.

Hi Tom, Welcome to the (unknown photos) club! Check out my pages at http://www.geocities.com/vbenson_2000/unk_brad.htm I advertised this on the Tri-Services listserv too and had several people check it and a few had possible answers. What I was hoping though, was that someone would see a resemblance to a photo in an album or collection that had a name on it. So far, no luck on any definite answers. I don't recognize anyone in your photos. You may want to give some possible names of who it might be to help. I also have one KNOWN person on my site in case someone tries to "pull my leg." Thanks Tom. I love seeing old photos, even if they're not my kin. I've gotten addicted to purchasing old CDVs and tintypes off eBay, especially those from studios in the PA/NY/NJ area. As my Mother and all her siblings are gone, and I unfortunately have only 1/2 dozen or so old photos, I have no idea what most of my ancestors looked like! I find myself staring at these eBay photos, looking for some family resemblance, wondering, "could you be my grandmother's sister? or one of her brothers?" It makes me sad that families have somehow lost these photos and I wish I could reunite them! But what's more sad is that some families don't care about them. I just can't fathom that! I did find a site recently (link below) that attempts to find homes for unknown photos, and will eventually post all my new photo finds there, in the hope that a family member will see them. Maybe Joyce would be interested in doing something like this? Thoughts and suggestions? http://www.lostleavesphotos.com/ Thanks, best, and have a great weekend! I read the obituary of David "Duke" O'Herron in yesterday's on-line Star Gazette and it mentioned that he passed away at CCNF. What does CCNF stand for...Chemung County Nursing ???? or something like that? Any clarification would be most appreciated. Thanks, Ken Sullivan California
These are wonderful photos - a good lesson to be learned by all of us, LABEL YOUR PHOTOS. Maybe you could plan a family reunion or family get-together and display the pictures - some of the elders in your family just might recognize one of them. What a shame to lose identity on these historical family heirlooms. We have some will-related documents for John Hill of Cayuta in Chemung County. They are dated 1849 to 1851, and refer to his daughter, " Deborah Flanders, who resides near the lead mines ". Can anyone help us determine where these "lead mines" might have been at that time ? Chemung County? Another nearby county? As written, it sounds like this location was well-known to folks of that time. Any thoughts or help appreciated. Thanks in advance !! Sue Perry Ann Arbor, Mi
Hi Everyone, Just thought I would let you know that if you haven't been to the BCHS lately they have some new rules. The following are not allowed: Pens (pencils OK), Hand Scanners, Cassette Recorders, and Laptops, but you can use the laptops if they are battery operated, just can't plug them in anywhere. I may have missed something, but those are the things that I remember from the list. Pat Raymond

Thanks to all for sharing or thoughts and experiences in dealing with WILLS. Thanks Lew
Hi Lew, I don't have an answer to your question, but just want to let you know that I sent to SAMPUBCO for a copy of my gr-grandfather's (Abram Rowe) will. My experience was a good one. I followed the directions on the website. I received the will a couple of weeks later than I had thought I would, but was able to monitor when I might receive it by checking the website to see what "date request received" they were working on. I have not seen any negative reports about them. Lew: Another point of view. I have been a satisfied SAMPUBCO customer. Their instructions are specific, I followed their instructions in detail, sent the money required and got what I requested in a rational period of time. I have received 10 to 15 documents from them and the only screw up was one time when I sent an incomplete request. regards, Tere Seeley ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lewis Townsend" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, May 28, 2002 1:04 PM Subject: [Tri-Counties] Source of wills > Where can one find the Wills on line or how else can they be accessed, > besides purchasing copies from SAMPUBCO, about which there seems to have > been so many negative comments in the past. > > Thanks > > Lew > > > > ==== PABRADFO Mailing List ==== > Please post all surname listings and surname or family queries on the Query section of Tri-Counties site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~srgp/jmtindex.htm > >
Where can one find the Wills on line or how else can they be accessed, besides purchasing copies from SAMPUBCO, about which there seems to have been so many negative comments in the past. Thanks Lew
with 200,400+ hits so far versus negative comments, I wonder. Frankly I receive far more postive than negative comments over the years.
