Tom, I recently did the same thing. and many peoples concern is scammers..if you were to print the persons name fine, but stupid me put dates of birth so i would (personally) just list their names P.s. Hello fellow genealogists - I recently became interested in genealogy and decided to gather up as much information (and photos) of members of my family tree and create a web site. I was confronted recently, however, with the possibility that not everyone that I had listed information for (including names, birth dates, in some cases photographs) would necessarily appreciate having their information displayed on the internet. Is this a valid legal or ethical concern ? Should I only list information for living persons if they have given me permission to do so ? Or should I go ahead and keep the information there, and only remove it on request ? If anyone has had any experience with or opinions on this matter, please let me know. Thanks, Tom Currier
Where would one find inf on the early church in Litchfield twp? I am interested in members. Marilyn Bess
I finally recieved some death certificates in hopes it will help me find information on Stephen Sease/Cease and Alzada Woodard. Mary A. Newell was the daughter of the above and she was born 11-27-1846 in Canton, Pa. Her death certificate said her father Stephen Cease was born in Troy, Pa and her mother Alzada Woodard was born in Columbia, Bradford County, Pa. Alzada remarried to a Henry Buck and had Isabell C. Buck who married Jud Mosher. Isabelle was born 4-25-1860 and was born in Mansfield Pa. Could any one tell me where Troy and Canton Penn are? In what county? I can. Just put them in with her and cover them all up. My husband says I'm a little blood thirsty and I really do like to do things the easy way. They have to close the hole up anyway, don't they? I was shocked to see this on the front page of the daily review today. How could anyone stoop so low?: Pair arrested for attempting to rob grave By C.J. Marshall 07/05/2002 FRANKLIN -- Two men were arrested by state police Wednesday, on accusations they attempted to rob a grave of a woman buried over 100 years ago. According to information filed with District Justice Tim Clark, James E. Lehman, 37, of New Albany and Michael A. Armioia III, 22, of Dushore have each been charged with criminal conspiracy to commit institutional vandalism, and institutional vandalism, both third-degree felonies, as well as criminal conspiracy to commit desecration or sale of venerated objects, and desecration or sale of venerated objects, both second-degree misdemeanors. Both men have been accused of attempting to dig up the grave of Catharine Haunsell in Barclay Cemetery. State police reported being called to Barclay Cemetery on June 23, to investigate a complaint concerning people who had attempted to unearth the buried remains of a human being. When they arrived at the cemetery, state police continued, they observed a hole approximately 4 feet deep and 3 feet wide directly above the burial plot of Catharine Haunsell, who died on Jan. 18, 1882. A mound of dirt was next to the hole, state police said. Continuing their investigation, state police said, they discovered a Chevrolet sedan, which had been abandoned about one-fifth of a mile from the cemetery. Running the vehicle identification number, state police determined the owner's identity and contacted her on June 28. State police said the owner informed them that she had sold the car to Lehman for $50 on June 21. State police said they interviewed Lehman on July 1 concerning what had happened at the grave. State police said Lehman informed them that he was at Barclay Cemetery about a week ago, with his girlfriend and Armioia. Lehman said he was curious to see how deep graves were dug 100 years ago, state police reported, so they all agreed to dig up a grave to find out. Lehman said they all attempted to dig up a grave, state police reported, and estimated they dug a hole 3 feet deep in the process. Later that day, state police continued, they interviewed Armioia concerning what had occurred. Armioia said he, Lehman and the other person had agreed to go to Barclay Cemetery to dig up a grave because they thought they could find some jewelry or other valuable items with the buried remains, state police reported. Armioia also said that if they found any such items they intended to sell them, state police reported. Both men were arraigned before Judge Clark, who ordered them incarcerated in Bradford County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail, each. The preliminary hearing for the two men has been scheduled for July 12.

Dear Lorei and List, When you go to the Vitial Statistics in Chemung Co., Elmira, NY., it is on John St.,( near St. Joseph's Hospital.) Johns St. is a cross street between Church and E. Water St. They have the new exit for Water St opened now and the one for Church St is closed---off NY RT 17 and future I-86. I think John St. is 3-4 streets off the exits. The cost to find and copy the certificates is $11.00 each. There are forms there for you to fill out. When I called the other day the lady said that they do have some birth records back to 1860, depending on what town it is. Self addressed envelopes are not required but I wonder if it wouldn't be nice to have them ready for the searcher. So I would guess that all you need to have is as much info as you can and a pen, and oh yes--money or check book. Just wanted to let every one no that the Steele Memorial Library in Elmira has got some of the 1930 census in. They have 21 counties from NY and 18 from PA. Some of the films are only part of the county. They have ordered 19 more NY and 5 more PA counties that will be in in a few weeks. To see what they have go to Steele Memorial Library Elmira, New York 14901 and under genealogy and the 1930 census you will find what they have and what has been ordered. Thanks to donations from alot of great people they have been able to get about 31 rolls of film. Sherry

Hi Everyone, Last Saturday while looking for something entirely different at the Bradford County Library in Burlington, I came across a box of diary's written by George Bourne. They started in 1860 when he was still in school, and I'm not sure how many years there were in the box. I randomly selected one (1879) and wrote down any entry that gave information about people in the area. Mr. George Bourne lived about half way between Smithfield and Burlington Twp., but his home was actually in West Burlington. It was on the Berwick Turnpike and his descendants still live there. He owned and operated a Lumber Mill, and I remember when it was still in operation. He knew a great many people, and the people that he mentions are from the general area. I did not, and will not, type the whole diary as there are days and days that the only entry is "Ran Saw" or "Planed", so this is not a long document. I am sending the first one to Joyce for the site, and will type other ones as I have time to do it. Pat Raymond
Can someone give me some history of the County Farm in Tioga County? Later it was called Broadacres. Was this like a poor house? There seem to be people of all ages living there. Jane Webb

Hi All, Last month's drive for Bible and Diary records was a major success. We added 62 new pages of Bible records and Diaries to the site. Thanks so much for all of you who chipped in on that project. That brings our total number of Bible records to about 180 for the site. That sounds like a lot until you consider that we have eighty townships in our three counties, so broken down that way, it is really a small number. I have continued to scour this Sullivan Township areas for more, and it is working. There are many Family Bibles still present in the households of the township. It just takes a person to go out looking. Everyone whose Bible records I copy, thanks me. They are just as grateful to have their old records preserved and distributed as we are to have them available to all of us, and for the same reasons. They want the memories of their ancestors preserved just as we do. For the locals, here are some strategies to consider if you want to help round up these records. 1. Post a notice in the local small stores. 2. Ask the ministers to announce in the churches that we are looking for Bible records for historical purposes. I might even put an ad in some of the local papers asking for same. Then make yourself available to photocopy, scan or manually copy the records made available to us by these method. I have just been phoning people and with the intergenerational relationships that still prevail in our rural areas, this is working just fine. Whether they even know me or not, they know/knew my parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and they are glad to have these records preserved. This month's special focus is on Legal Documents, and we have already brought in almost forty. Thanks once again to those who have taken the time to transcribe what they have to share with the rest of us. There are a few site guests who deserve special thanks. No matter what I ask for in my monthly special concentrations, they dig through their files and have something to contribute. We are all grateful to them.
