    3. 21 years of age. The answer was in guardianship records. 14 and unders, somebody else must petition court for guardian to be appointed for minors. 15-18, the minor can petition the court for a guardian be appointed. 18-20, must ask court for permission to sell or buy estate, property whatever. 21 - free to do without having to ask the court. 3. I have come upon an interesting fact regarding the book Presidents, Soldiers, and Statesmen. I recently purchased a set (vol. I & II) but could not find Adam Richter of Blossburg who is listed in it. They apparently printed several regional versions of volume II. I wound up with a western New York version of Volume II while Adam Richter is apparently listed in a Pennsylvania version. I already have a copy of his write-up and was hoping to purchase the whole book. I Just wanted to let everyone know to that you have to know which volume II you want to look in. While I am disappointed to not find Adam Richter listed, the two volumes are a wealth of information on the Civil War, the signers of the declaration of independence, and the Presidents and there cabinet members. It will be great reading material. The only tri-county entry I noticed was of a Harkness from Springfield. -- Dana Richter [email protected]

    1. Re:[Tri-Counties] birth cert from ANTRIM BRADFORD PA
    2. Cathy, I think you'll find that prior to 1893, birth certificates will be very hard to find. Most Pa. County Courthouses (Register and Recorders office) will not have ones issued prior to then. I was told to check with the local historical society. Chances of finding one there are VERY slim, though. 2. Dick McCracken
    3. Ernie, During my eleven year tenure as Director of Veterans Affairs for Bradford County I was not able to locate the repository for Pennsylvania draft board records. Only the index books were available at the county level. As I recall, the books contain nothing of genealogical value other than the address where the registrant lived. I believe I turned these books over to the Bradford County Historical Society for archiving about three years ago, shortly before my retirement. 3. I just recently was browsing Joyce's site for any possible information relating to my Father and his family. I found out that my father was assigned the draft number 2021 by the Bradford County Board #1. on Oct. 24, 1940. Does anyone have any idea where I could write to find out if they have any information about my fathers parents? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This list and Joyce's site are just SUPER and I for one feel that it is something worth keeping free for as long as Joyce can keep it that way. Just my $.02 worth. 2. Could someone tell me if the Historical Society for Bradford Co is open on Monday or Tuesday. Unfortunately, if not, I will have to miss a research visit to them, and would be sorely disappointed. I will only be in Towanda PA on Monday or Tues next week and would like to know, if I miss the Hx Soc, is there a library or other research facility available for me to use. All this in connection with researching my family in Bradford Co.
