Hello, I've been trying to determine the birth place of my 2nd great grandmother Mary R. Sawyer, daughter of Ami (Ammi) Sawyer and Mary Gifford. There's a Sawyer site that has her information as - born 28-Sep-1831, Daggett Mills, Bradford County, New York. He's unable to tell me where he got the information from. I have 28- Sep- 1831 in Daggett, Tioga Co. PA. Census records say NY. According to Joyce's wonderful site the area changed names a few times. Family record has it that her father owned a saw mill for a short time in Daggett. I've found the family in 1840 & 1850 in Wells Twp, Bradford Co. PA. I'd like to verify her birth information but I'm pretty confused about whether Daggett Mills is in NY or PA? Is it now Jackson Twp? Is Daggett Mills and Daggett two different places? Was there a state line change there too? How might I go about finding her father's saw mill there? A little more info on her - She married David Bennett, son of Josiah Bennett and Hannah Kimber and they are both buried in Webb Mill cemetery. I'd greatly appreciate any help in understanding this better and finding her birth record. Darla Stimbert
My gggrandfather, A.B. Dickinson, is included in the index to the Outline History of Tioga and Bradford Counties. Does anyone know where I can order copies of the entries? Thanks. Ellen Kane Buglewicz Papillion, NE
Still looking for information on a burial handled by WC Harrington Funeral Parlor. Can anyone speculate where their records are today? Thanks, Ellen Kane Buglewicz Papillion, Nebraska

When my brother got this he thought that meant wife was an orphan! She was 34 ... and the document listed her parents' names. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Charlyne, Below, is a classic description and division of the Orphans' Court. The Orphans’ Court handled the sale and division of real estate out of estates, the confirmation and auditing of accounts, and the guardianship of minor children (who may not be orphans). There are two types of orphans’ court files: 1) A decedent's estate contains records of an estate settlement; it is a continuation of the probate process. The most common type of record in these files is an account of administration. Most of these are duplicates of accounts that were filed with the will or administration (probate) records. Records related to the sale or division of real estate are not duplicated in the probate file; these papers may list family members. Records related to the auditing of accounts may also contain information of genealogical value. 2) A minor's estate contains guardianship papers. A minor was someone under the age of 21. A child could have a guardian even if one or both parents were alive. The guardian was given charge of the minor's property; in most cases, the minor continued to live with family members. Guardianship records often name one or both parents and state if the child was above or below the age of fourteen. Typical files contain petitions for guardians; by the second half of the 19th century, inventories and guardianship accounts become more common. The files are not duplicates of probate records. The Bradford County Courthouse, in Towanda, holds the Orphans' Court Records and they also have an Index to the records. Good luck on your research. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with ordering social security application form for an ancestor and how long it should take. I ordered one in June and as of Oct. 15th have not received anything although they did cash my check in July. I wrote and asked about it and so far have received no reply. Nancy
I need a little help. I have the Administration Papers of Asahel Culver. H e died in 1851 and these papers state the best I can figure out is that his estate was sold and monies left went to the ophans court. Does any one know what this means. Did it mean his family was left with nothening. Every household item and farming tool is listed. Also every creditor is listed. What is the Orphans Court? Also it states that his sawmill was sold. Does any one know anything about a sawmill in Covington in 1851. I know this is a lot to ask but will appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thanks in advance Charlyne
Hello, I found a civil war era tin lock box with the name, Rev. T.H. Delamater painted in gold. I believe he was from the Mansfield/Troy area. It has the original key and is in excellent condition. Sorry for the commercial interruption; however, I wanted to give the family a chance to respond before the item is sold elsewhere. Mark Orshaw
Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any information on a Motel called Breesy View which was located near Marie Anottnete lookout on Old State Road,Wyalusing Township, Bradford County, PA. We recentaly purchased the property which has the house and 5 stone cabins. We found Motel REgestrations from 1959-1961 in the house. We have found out the following information from a few poeple. The business was doing good until they built Route 6 in the 1960's. Then the traffic was shifted to the new road. The Registration forms have people from Canada, New York, New Jersy, VA, and Calaforina listed on them. The cabins seemed to be full all of the time in the spring - fall for the years of 1959-1961. I found out a little about the layout of the Resturant which is now our house. If anyone remeber's this place or knows of anyone whom stayed here please let me know. We want to find out the history of this neat place. Thanks, Sue & Marvin
Hi Everyone, Mrs. Barbara Decker, former 4th and 5th grade teacher at Harriet Child Elementary School in East Smithfield is celebrating her 90th birthday this Sunday at the Bradford County Manor, RR 3, Troy, PA 16947. If there are any former students or friends on this list, it is being requested that you send a Birthday Card if possible. I probably should not be announcing this on the mail list, but this lady is a great person who is avidly interested in the history of this area, and has given me information on several occasions. Pat Raymond
Hi All, I just wonder if I have fallen off the list for some reason. I have not received any email from PABRAD in a few days. I am still trying to find out information on my father's draft record from 1940. I contacted the BCHS and I have not heard anything from them. So I will try and contact them again. Hi Joyce and I hope you are finally getting settled into your "new" home. Ernest Warren, Researching Warren, Leonard, and others

Yeah, just keep it all to yourself. No one will know what you need. Isn't keeping secrets fun?
no arguments from me on this one. Not only that, it is almost impossible to delete your own data from there. Plus they tried to charge me $$ for access all of a sudden. Plus getting their emails when they don't provide for a way to unsubscribe. I had to raise cain of hells several times before they finally stopped. Thank you Sherry, Pattie Wilkinson is a daughter of my 3rdgrtgrandmother Keziah Yarrington Gore Clark. Keziah married Silas Gore about 1772 probably in Connecticut. Later she married Benjamin Clark of Ulster. Martha "Patty" Gore was born 20 Aug 1771. She married first Jedidiah Shaw, son of Jeremiah Shaw and Abigail Campbell, about 1791. I believe there were four children of this marriage. Jedidiah died in 1800. Circa 1802 Patty married Jonathan Wilkenson. He died in 1833. I know of only one child of this marriage. Looks like I need to read the old Elmira newspapers! Sandra Johnson
Be careful of posting any of your information on One Great Family. Just like Genealogy.com, they take ownership of the data you've researched, and sell it for profit. They advertise as an altruistic site to allow the world to become one great family, but please read the fine print. Take it from one who was taken in.....Regards, Cinda in Colorado
I'm doing a new project, like I need a new project, but I can do it at work since its for the Steele Memorial Library. I'm indexing all marriages and deaths for the years of 1861-1867 from the Elmira paper. I'm finding it very interesting since it is during the war years. Anyway I found this obit and thought maybe someone could use it on the list. I will send Joyce the index when I get done and if you see a name thats yours you will be able to find the book at Steele Memorial Library. Death of a Survivor of the Wyoming Massacre--Mrs.Pattie Wilkinson one of the survivors of the Wyoming Massacre, died in Sheshequin, Pa on the 1st inst. age 92 years. Mrs. Wilkinson was with her mother and two younger sisters, one of whom survives her, in Forty Fort. at the time it was surrendered to the British Colonel, Butler and his Indian allies. Her father, Silas Gore was left among the slain upon the battle field. She lived to see descendants to the fourth generation. This was in the Mar. 22, 1862 Elmira Weekly Advertiser Sherry
My grandmother died many years before I was born. I have always thought her name was Katherine Fuller. But many of the records I find have her name as Tuller. Even in her own signature as a child in a Sunday School Bible it is impossible to tell whether it is an "F" or a "T". I have been told that Fuller was not her father's name, but that she was either adopted or an indentured servant and may have taken that as a last name. Out of eleven sources 5 give her name as Tuller, 3 as Fuller, and 3 are uncertain.Since most of the records are in a clerk's writing, how can I tell which name is right? To complicate that the records give her birthplace as Pa., NY, New York City, or Tioga Township. A man by the name of Philo Tuller, who I understand was a druggist in Tioga boro, has a wife named Harriet. In both the 1860 and 1870 census there is a female named Catherine that is the right age to be my grandmother. None of the biographical sketches of Philo Tuller mention any children. My grandparents named their first child Harriet. Is there a logical way to sort out the sources and make a decision? I'd like some opinions from the experts out there. Or does anyone have any knowledge of Philo Tuller's Catherine? Jane Webb
