I've used PayPal probably 100 times and have never had a problem. I've both sent AND received money for eBay auctions, charitable organizations, even a loan to a family member. PayPal is now owned by eBay and is a very reputable service. Lorraine Latta L.A. Hello, Can anyone tell me the address and phone number of the Athens, PA town clerk? Also, I am interested in any information on Walter Truman Parsons b. 1843, d. 1942, his wife Lavina (Levira) Parsons, d. 1/1917,and their son Walter, b. 1870 in Athens. They lived in Athen, PA approx 1870. Thank you. Emily
I have bought dozens of things with paypal, and haven't had any problems at all. I have bought at least 4 CDs from genealogycds, and each time the CD has been here within 3 days, so I doubt there is much delay in money transfer. My wife goes over every credit card bill carefully, and there have been no added charges or discrepancies ever. http://www.mystiqueshopper.com/forum/m_356/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#356 Has the opinion of several users. Admittedly, in My search I did find negative things too. All the negative things I found were from sellers, not buyers. (Sellers saying paypal held there money during disputes etc) In my (quick / short) search, I found no serious complaints from buyers (though I'm sure I could if I wanted to spend the time) The CDs cost between $19.50 and $24.50 (+$2.50 shipping) if this is too much $ to risk with paypal, and You really want some of these CDs, print out the order form, and send it in with a check. I recently found a source for several sought after books on CD. I've decided to make a few of these available on My web site at www.lightlink.com/craig/cds While it would be nice to own the REAL books, the cost is prohibitive for most of us. I have 3 different CDs for sale- Genealogy and History CHEMUNG CO New York TIOGA COUNTY, NY Historical and Genealogical Information Genealogy and History of the Family CARPENTER Resource CD The PDF files on the Chemung and Carpenter CDs have been processed with Adobe Acrobats "Paper Catcher" This means that the files can be searched normally, as if they were text. The Tioga county cd has not been processed yet (as far as I know) which is why I'm offering limited lookups (limited meaning I hope I don't get deluged with lookup requests) I have taken the books on the Tioga cd and converted them to text so they can be searched. The conversion wasn't 100% perfect, but it did leave me with a searchable file, so I can at least attempt to look up names. For a listing of what books / info is on these CDs, go to my web site www.lightlink.com/craig/cds If anyone has any questions, feel free to email Me, and I will try and answer (ps- I have set Myself up as an "affiliate" with genealogycds.com to make these 3 CDs available. This company accepts Paypal and checks as payment. They also have many other CDs available. I have been very happy with these CDs, and the company has been a pleasure to deal with) Craig Carpenter

The start of using last names and why The custom of family names didn't start until Venetian Families began to hand down this second name from father to son in the 11th Century. It was believed to have started as a result of the growing population, increased travel by people from various countries and tribes and improved communications. Prior to the 11th century, a surname- if it was used at all- represented the name of a clan or tribe.
