Hello all Is there a place to write for civil war service records of Bradford county residents? Thanks Rich Schwegler nfta3@aol.com

Hello to all; I have been trying desperately without success to locate the obituary of my Great-Grandmothers death. Her name was EVALINE D. KNAPP died in Troy PA on 15January 1941. I have tried to sort through some of the newspaper clippings that Joyce Tice as to offer but, once again, without success. Can someone direct me in the right direction? Thank you, April Richardson Indianapolis In

Hi All, I have received several complaints from mail list guests on the ongoing issue of PayPal. It is probably time to end that one. Also, the mail list is not to be used to advertise items for sale. That is not my rule, it is Rootsweb' rule, and my Tri-County mail list is associated with them. They do not permit it and block all such spam that related to it when they can. Additionally, the books that are on the CD, I own all of them and they are all on the list of work to be done on my Volunteer Help Needed page that links from all the What's New pages on the site. You don't have to buy these things when we are attempting to give them to you for free. Chip in on the work and they will all be on the site free for all permanently. Any copyright free books that relate to our three county area can be included on the site and that is our goal. We already have the best local history library on the Internet. More volunteers means we can improve it even more. Some of you can afford to buy these, many of you can not. It is not necessary. Just help us help you. I had held off for a few years in putting all of these books on site as some are sold as fund raisers by our local historical societies. But, as you can see, if is not on our site, it will be on others, so we can not delay this. Joyce M.Tice http://www.rootsweb.com/~srgp/jmtindex.htm

Not sure of anyone else but I'm tired of the Paypal subject. Can we get on with our family searches? Thanks, Tammy
I love paypal, I use it all the time!! But I will warn you guys, the scam artists are out in full force! I got a message that said it was from Ebay, but it seemed fishy so I had it checked out. It was someone trying to steal my info, so be careful!
Hmm, I've been a member since 1999 and have made hundreds of transactions. And only once did I have a discrepancy with them, but as it turned out, it was my fault for not checking the right box on the form. But has gotten much better since eBay bought them out I think. David Carpenter
Mikie likes paypal. It's the greatest thing since sliced bread. But I've only used it 18 times. Works for me. Mike Tuccinardi "History becomes legend, Legend fades into myth Myth is forgotten and denied Until history repeats itself"
So far, the only negative comments posted here about PayPal are from NON-users, and the USERS only have positive remarks about it. I use PayPal whenever it's accepted and much prefer it to waiting for a check to clear. You will find more and more online sellers/catalogue companies, charitable organizations, etc. accepting it. In fact, I believe I even suggested to Joyce last year that she accept donations for the site through PayPal. :) A couple of clicks and you're done! I can only say Bull.... I have had over 1000 PayPal transactions, selling on eBay with, possibly, 2, problems, eventually resolved. That's better than my credit union. Here is another nonuser condemning PayPal. I have used PayPal since its inception and have never had even one problem with it. Suppose there were 50 screw-ups, out of how many total transactions did they occur. I would guess the percentage would be quite small and isn't a fraud investigator "only" handling the problems. Quite often it's hard to be objective when a person is in such a position. PayPal is a legitimate business operation which has its place in business. The discerning person will through experience make the right decision as to whether to use it or not. Responses to my posting made me go searching for the negative info I had read about paypal. Here it is. Then I went to the link (so long I had to cut and paste it) and after reading the many complaints there I can assure you, I'd never use it. Suggest you read and decide for your self. Jude (in Belize) - - - - Paypal - We stopped using them when they demanded our bank account information, even though we only used their services to pay people with our credit card. Their demands for our bank info. just didn't make any sense, so we terminated the relationship. Well, it appears they have many unhappy customers... http://www.paypalsucks.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=3031&fid=3&PHPSESSID =5cdd0dd8c967b9f178fdbbe78495be97&block=30
Jude; It's commonly known in the business world that the majority of feedback that a company receives is usually negative. People have a tendency to speak up far more readily when disgruntled than they do when they're pleased. In fact, a huge percentage of happy customers don't even think to comment about their satisfaction with a product or service. With this said, have you considered that the website you're citing may represent only a tiny fraction of all PayPal users? If you want my two bits, I would suggest that if you have no personal experience with PayPal, you might want to consider neither recommending nor dissuading others of its usage. The truth is you really don't know what the service is like one way or another. As for me, I've never had one lick of trouble with PayPal. I know I have asked this before, but feel I must again. Does anyone have a copy of Life of George Dewey by Adelbert Dewey - 1898? If so, could someone look something up for me. Thank you friends. Carol Harris Granbury, TX
