    2. Dog Badly Used Up Run Over by Automobile and Then Shot, but Animal Still Lives Run over by an automobile and afterwards shot by a policeman was the experience of a valuable dog belonging to M. I. Lingenfelter of 1413 Eighth avenue, last evening, which is still living and the owner hopes to be able to save its life. The dog had the toes of both front feet mashed in the encounter with the automobile and it crawled to the porch of the Cassidy home at 1212 Seventh avenue where a piece of carpet was thrown over it to protect it from the cold. They did not know whose dog it was and Humane Officer Carr was notified. Mr. Carr was not at home at the time and his daughter notified the police and Patrolman Dean went to look after the dog. The officer, who evidently thought that the humane officer had given orders that the dog be killed, took a shot at it, hitting it under one of the eyes. The dog fled and made its way to the Lingenfelter home where it was taken in and given treatment. The toes were bandaged and as the bullet did not lodge in the head, it is not thought by the veterinarian in attendance that the wound will prove fatal. Mr. Lingenfelter has taken the matter up with Mayor Rhodes and Mr. Carr, both of whom regret the occurrence, the shooting having been done through a misunderstanding of orders. The dog is an Airedale and is valued at $60. ------------------------------------------------- Fifty Cases On List Grand Jury Convenes on Monday to Begin Criminal Court Work The grand jury will convene at Hollidaysburg on Monday morning to begin the work of the January term of quarter sessions court.
