    2. Martinsburg S. S. Nicodemus and wife were Wednesday visitors in Altoona. E. H. Lytle made a trip to Hollidaysburg on Wednesday. Rev. C. Skyles of Loysburg, spent a few days of this week in town. Miss Mary Hayes, of Roaring Spring, visited her friend, Zelia Reynolds, the latter part of last week. Anna and Elizabeth Wenger spent part of this week in town with friends. They left yesterday for the home of their parents, in Findlay, Ohio. A reception was given Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Wineland for their son, Mahlon Wineland, and his wife, who were married Wednesday evening, April 31, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Stoudnour, on East Allegheny street. The happy couple are most excellent young people, both well known in the community. The groom is a talented singer and has appeared before many public audiences, both in choir and quartette. They will reside on a farm near town. A free lecture will be delivered in the Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon by R. M. Honeyman, secretary of the Young Men's Christian Association of Norristown. Subject: "Five Years on the Bowery." This is said to be a great lecture. No collection will be taken. Mr. Honeyman will speak in the Methodist Episcopal church in Woodbury Sunday morning at 10:30, subject: "Sowing to the Winds." William Keim is moving about on crutches. He was housed up with a broken leg for several month, the result of being kicked too hard by a mule. Several corn clubs are now forming in this part of the county. this is a good move and many farmer boys should become interested. Agricultural Agent R. Bruce Dunlap spent several days of this week among the farmers along Clover creek and Piney creek. As the season advances Mr. Dunlap will meet with the clubs and give practical information on corn growing. There will be contests in corn raising and to the successful contestants prizes will be awarded. Any boy desiring to join a corn club should write to Mr. Dunlop at Altoona for the necessary blanks. Miss Carrie Foes, of Philadelphia, is spending a month with relatives in this part of the Cove. Rev. A. G. Her is attending the general eldership of the Churches of God in Harrisburg this week. Miss Florence Bloom has returned to Martinsburg from Elmer, N. J., and will spend the summer here. Peter S. Clapper of Roaring spring was a visitor in Martinsburg last Wednesday. S. B. Fluke, esq., of Woodbury, stopped off here on his return Wednesday from a business trip to Altoona. Pearl and Daniel Dilling are spending a week with friends in Bedford. J. Harding Page, his mother, Mrs. Fannie L. Page, and his sister, Miss Elizabeth Page, who spent the past winter at St. Petersburg, Florida are back at their summer home in Martinsburg. Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Clabaugh of Connellsville, were guests this week at the home of the latter's mother, Mrs. Mary Zimmerman. the summer normal school opened here Monday morning with an enrollment of nearly forty. The school is in charge of Professor F. S. Kagarise, who is being assisted by Mrs. Kagarise. At the congregation meeting in St. Matthew's Lutheran church last Sunday morning, D. W. Smith and W. H. C. Brumbaugh were elected elders for two years. Elmer Shriver, C. G. Osterle and L. N. Ennis were elected deacons for two years. Martinsburg will be honored by the meeting of the state convention of the Brethren church here in the First Brethren church, on June 19. The convention will continue over three or four days, and will be composed of about 200 delegates from many parts of Pennsylvania. Grocer O. H. Wagner purchased a new Ford touring car, five passenger and received the machine on Tuesday. Mrs. W. L. Spanogle is visiting her daughter, Mrs. H. R. Woods, in Pittsburg. St. Matthew's Lutheran Sunday school was reorganized on Sunday morning for another year by the election of the following named officers; J. D. Russell, superintendent; Geo. Dent, assistant superintendent; Elwood Brown, secretary; Norman L. Croft, assistant secretary; Henry Liebegott and Blanch Kemberlin, librarians; Elizabeth Crissman, organist; Delia Croft, assistant organist. ------------------------------ Falls From Wagon Samuel Hall, of 1004 Green avenue, fell from a wagon yesterday afternoon and sustained a fracture of several bones in the right hand.
