The law committee and the water committee of city councils were to have held meetings last evening, but each failed to secure a quorum. Through the nomination of an unknown friend, Rev. Albert F. Nace of Juniata, has been recently been made a member of the National Geographic society of Washington, DC The home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Hoffman at 422 Fourteenth street, was brightened by a visit yesterday afternoon of the stork, who left the happy parents of a baby boy. ------------------------------------ Exchange Personals Edgar R. Dave Kredy and Glenn Hoffman have gone to Petersburg to try their luck with the hook and line. Dr. George Price of this city left last evening for a business trip to Pittsburgh. Mrs. Thomas C. Herbert, who has been spending some time with relatives in Clearfield, is expected home today. Hon. J. M. Reynolds of Bedford, in company with his wife, was registered at Logan House yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Foose of 696 Third avenue left this city Thursday for a six weeks' visit with friends and relatives on the Pacific coast. W. A. Reed of Blairsville, a member of company D, Fifth regiment, is here to attend the reunion of Spanish American war veterans. George Schultz of Pittsburgh, a member of company C, Fifth regiment, is here to attend the reunion of Spanish American war veterans. Miss Flaig, after an extended visit to Trenton, N. J., and New York, has returned to her home, 615 Second street, Juniata. Mrs. N. M. Kunzman of 217 Walnut avenue has returned from a trip to Jersey Shore, where she was the guest of relatives and friends. Charles C. Reith, the well known dairyman on the East Side, has returned from a fishing trip to Woodbury and vicinity, where he secured a fine catch. Rev. William Moses, former pastor of the Walnut Avenue Methodist church, but now of Flemington, Mifflin county, was a visitor in the city yesterday. Mrs. Roy Shoemaker of New York is visiting at the home of Miss Mary Barkley, 903 Second avenue, and her sister, Mrs. Pigan, of 2102 Tenth avenue. Barney Segal, who is a student of the technical school of the Westinghouse company, in Pittsburgh, will spend a week visiting his mother, on Seventh street. George Adams and wife of Altoona, who spent the winter in St. Petersburg, Fla., have returned home and for the present will stop with their daughter, Mrs. W. N. Riley of 191 Eleventh street. -------------------- Dr. W. H. Howell Is Fined. Dr. W. H. Howell, who was arrested yesterday for speeding an auto on Sixth avenue, was fined $20.80 in police court last evening, which he paid under protest, giving notice that he would appeal the case to court. Dr. Howell claimed the city's motorcycle's speedometer was not accurate and Lou Wolfe was summoned to the hearing as an expert, testifying that the speedometer is accurate and one of the best made.
