Ex-Sheriff Joseph Shannon, who has been ill for a long time, is gradually sinking and cannot survive much longer. His son Joseph has been watching at his bedside for nine consecutive nights, and is much exhausted from his patient attention and weary vigils. Mr. Shannon has long been a resident of this city and in his closing hours should not want friends nor the necessary comforts so much needed at this moment. Any assistance in the way of watching at his bedside and ministering to his wants will be kindly and gratefully remembered. We trust that some of our humane citizens will see to it that this old citizen is made comfortable and his son relieved and given needful rest from his weary though filial duty. ------------------------ DIED POET.-May 4, 1884, Sadie Bell, infant daughter of M. and S.
