Thanks to Annie Whiteman (my Hero!), I have learned the name and birth date of my g-g-g-g-Grandfather from the following 1901 Altoona Tribune Obituary. If anyone has any further information on this man, his wife, or his children, I would be very grateful. I do have information on his daughter, Margaret E. Powell, died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. James S. Davis, at 1509 Twenty-first avenue of heart failure. He had been ailing for several weeks. Deceased was born in Stone Valley, Huntingdon county, March 27, 1818. He came to Altoona in the fall of 1864 and the next spring he entered the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad company in whose service he remained until August 1880, when he was compelled to retire by reason of ill health. His wife preceded him to the grave nineteen years ago and since then he had made his home with his daughter. He was well known and esteemed. The deceased is survived by these children: Mrs. James Davis, Mrs. Fred Wicker, and William E. of Altoona; Henry H. of Connellsville; and Mrs. Sarah A. Rutherford of South Pueblo, Col. The funeral will take place from his late home at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Services at the house. Interment at Fairview Cemetery.
