Hello, I am looking for any information that anyone may have regarding my great grandfather, and 2nd great grandmother and their families. I know that my 2nd great grandmother Anna GEINER (married name) and her children Xavier "Frank" and Lina arrived at the Port of New York on 10 Jun 1912 from Habersbrunn, Germany on the S.S. George Washington, and their listed destination was Altoona, PA. I have a great deal of confusion about Anna's husband since he was not aboard the ship with them, but did pay their fares. I have not been able to find him in any US censuses with her. In the 1920 US Census, Anna was shown to be widowed, unemployed and unable to speak English. She was listed as the head of the household, but she was living with her brother, Joseph GEINER, and sister-in-law, Teresa. My great grandfather, Xavier "Frank" GEINER married Frances LECHNER, and they had the following children: Frank GEINER (my grandfather) Bob GEINER Virginia "Ginger" GEINER Jim GEINER I have a few tidbits of information from my mother as follows from some of her emails to me: "I REMEMBER AS A KID WE WOULD GO TO ALTOONA PA. TO VISIT. THEY LIVED IN A GREAT BIG OLD MANSION AND ON THE THIRD FLOOR MY GREAT GRANPA LECHNER HAD COOKO CLOCKS AND HE HAD LOTS OF THEM. ... YOUR GRANDPA FRANK MOTHER FRANCES DID NOT WANT ANYONE TO KNOW SHE WAS GERMAN. SHE WOULD DENY IT. SHE WAS FULL BLOOD GERMAN AS WAS HER HUSBAND FRANK. THEY MET AT A RESTAURANT . ... YOUR GREAT GRANDPA XAVIER WAS GOING BACK TO GERMANY 2 TIMES A YEAR TO VISIT REALTVES UNTIL HE HAD A STROKE AND DIED." Thank you in advance for any information you can give!
