    2. Marriage Record RIDDLE-LINGAFELT Mr. John Riddle and Mrs. Mary Lingafelt of 1400 Eighth avenue were married at 7 o'clock last evening at the manse of the Second Presbyterian church, the Rev. Henry Howard Stiles being the officiant. Mr. Riddle is a former deputy sheriff. The newlyweds have already been the recipients of many congratulations. After a honeymoon tour Mr. and Mrs. Riddle will be at home at 1400 Eighth avenue. LONG-RUPERT On Monday evening, Jan. 4th, 1909, at the residence of the bride, 331 Second avenue, Miss Erma Rupert, daughter of John Rupert and wife, was married to William G. Long, of Altoona. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Alex Lamberson, pastor of the Fifth Avenue Methodist Episcopal church after which a sumptuous wedding dinner was served. After a wedding trip they will reside in Altoona. WHITBRED-KELLY Mr. El J. Whitbred and Miss Annie Kelly were married yesterday morning in the rectory of St. John's church, the Rev. Morgan M. Sheedy officiating. The attendants were M. J. Kelly and Miss Lillian Herbert. Two coachloads of immigrants went west on Pacific express this morning, three Italians getting off here. J. M. Goss, division freight agent for the Pennsylvania railroad, with offices at the corner of Twelfth avenue and Twelfth street, has been transferred to Baltimore, where he will fill a similar position with the company. Discipline Bulletin No. 23, for the week ending January 3, 1909, has been issued from the office of Superintendent Preston of the Middle division, and shows that during the week there were ten employees disciplined for violation of the rules. -------------------- NEWRY F. W. Patterson of Pittsburg, chief engineer of the Altoona, Hollidaysburg and Bedford Springs electric railway, was in town on Friday, and met a number of our people to whom he outlined the plans of the company and left the impression that all that was needed to insure the building of the raod was the right of way. An earnest interest is being taken in it by our people. E. M. Hoover, John McIntosh and W. H. Patterson were business visitors to Altoona on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Claar were visitors in Altoona on Friday. Rev. C. F. Gephart returned home on Friday evening from Milheim, where he had gone to view the ruins of the recent fire in that village. He reports that his mother is safe and was not in the burned district. Miss Mabel Kephart was shopping in Altoona on Friday. William Simmers of Glasgow is in town looking up his interests as the heir-in-law of the late Mary Shaw. Mrs. David Leighty was an Altoona shopper on Saturday. Miss Grace Glunt arrived home from Tyrone on Saturday and will remain for some time. Mr. and Mrs. William McIntosh, who have been visiting friends here during the past week, left for Hollidaysburg where they will make a short visit before returning to their home in Verona. F. R.
