A few years ago a British bookplate scholar contacted me because Gable had helped a young artist named Plank, whose sister worked at Gables in Altoona. Plank's art consisted largely of bookplates, and, although I'm not sure of this, he may have designed Wm. F. Gable's personal bookplate. The bookplate scholar was researching Plank, not Gable.
