    2. NEWS OF SERVICE MEN Notes of Blair County Boys Who Are Home Or Have Returned To Camps Herbert W. Kelly, who was one of the first young men to be selected from this district to serve in the United States army, is enjoying a brief furlough in this city. He has gained twenty-eight pounds since he entered Camp Lee as a member of Company A and of the Three Hundred and Fifth engineers. James McCullough, better known as "Axel," star football player of Holy Cross college, who was recently called by the United States government into naval reserve and who is now located at the Newport, R. I., torpedo station, is spending several days in this city with relatives. Sergeant Yarnell, stationed at Camp Greene, N. C., is spending a ten day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Yarnell of 2026 Broad avenue. Sergeant J. K. Bollinger, in the army service at Newport News, Va., has left for his station after a visit with his parents at 913 Eighth avenue. Ralph A. Alexander, jr., of ?615 Broad avenue, now a member of the naval reserves, left today for Camp Wisahickon, Cape May, N. J. Oscar J. Little has returned to Fort Hancock after spending the Christmas season at his home at 1210 Sixteenth street. Seaman S. Max Washabaugh of the Newport, R. I. training station has returned to his post of duty after spending the Christmas holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Washabaugh of 226 East Bell avenue. John F. Shay and Harry G. Shay, brothers, left for their post after spending a very enjoyable seven days furlough at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Shay, 2213 Seventh avenue. They are both privates in the United States marines on the battleship Vermont. They find the life very interesting. Charles L. Hicks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hicks of 2619 Seventh avenue, was home on a ten day's furlough during Christmas. He likes army life very well. He is well and weighs 165 pounds, gaining thirty-five pounds while he was in camp. He has left for Camp Greene, Charlotte, N. C. -------------------------- LOSES FOUR BY DEATH Hand of Grim Reaper Falls Heavily Upon Mrs. David Diehl of Twelfth Ward. The hand of death has fallen heavily upon the family and relatives of Mrs. David Diehl of 2700 Maple avenue during the past month, a son, a grandson, brother and nephew having been taken from her during this period. Her son, Edgar, and grandson, Arthur Caskey, jr., were killed in an automobile accident at New Portage Junction in September, while her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Caskey, was seriously injured. Paul W. Reed, her nephew, died last Friday in Pittsburgh, where he was located as a member of the ordinance department of the United States army. Allen Frederick Adams, who died yesterday afternoon at his home in Hollidaysburg, was a brother.
