For the first time in the history of Blair county the members of the grand jury will discharge their duties one week in advance of the holding of the quarter sessions court in March. At a meeting of Sheriff William H. Orr and Jury Commissioners Joseph H. Butler and Frank X. Meintel, held at the court house, Hollidaysburg, last evening, the names of twenty-four grand jurors were drawn from the wheel, to serve the week beginning March 4, and sixty petit jurors to serve the week beginning Monday, March 11. Judge Thomas J. Baldridge and District Attorney Marion D. Patterson are of the opinion that this change will contribute to the more orderly and expeditious trials of cases, and will also reduce the bills for witnesses, inasmuch as under the new order of things the witnesses will not be compelled to remain at court, indefinitely, awaiting the calling of their cases.
