Searching for information on Christian Schmidt, b abt 1765 in Metz, Germany, d 1835 in Williamsburg, PA, m to Kathrine ? -no information-. Also a grandson ? Sissler believed to be a doctor practicing in Williamsburg in the middle 1800's. One of Christians sons was George Washington Schmidt/Smith b 10-15-1800 who served in the PA legislature in 1854 and moved to Iowa in 1856. Other children beleived to be Phillip, Lewis, Catherine, Jacob, Sarah, and Amalia. Christian is my g g grandfather. He was Lutheran and baptismal records exist in St. Johns Lutheran church in Haggerstown of the baptisms of Geo, Phillip, Sarah, and Amalia. George married a daughter of Samuel Royer of Cove Forge.
