The Tyrone Lime and Stone Company was owned and operated by the Arthur Vanneman family of Tyrone during the first half of the 1900's. There are many dormant limestone quarries in the area. Checking the 1910 Tyrone Borough Census (ED 89 - visit 46), a Thomas Nash (wife Elizabeth, Thomas born in Ireland), states that he was foreman of a "stone quarry". During the time my husband grew up in Tyrone (1940's - 1970), there were only 2 active lime quarries near Tyrone, the one mentioned above and one 6 miles from Tyrone (in Pemberton).
