    3. CHESTER E. DUNLAP IS IN FRENCH HOSPITAL Chester E. Dunlap, a member of a machine gun battalion who according to a telegram from the war department received by the young man's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Dunlap, of 1711 Fifth street, was reported missing, is in a hospital in France, recovering from a gas attack. This welcome news was conveyed to the parents in a letter dated Oct. 18, which was eight days later than the date of the telegram. The error was probably due to his having been reported missing, just previous to his removal to the hospital. In the letter he states that he is as well as can be expected, but nervous due to the effects of the gas. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Monday Morning, November 25, 1918 ERNEST OTTO IN BASE HOSPITAL BADLY WOUNDED In a letter received by Mrs. Ethel M. Otto, of 213 East Sixth avenue, notification of the wounding of her husband, Earnest Otto, in action in France was received. Mr. Otto, who is widely known in the city, was formerly an employe of the Altoona and Logan Valley Electric railway company, having been a conductor on the Broad avenue line. Mrs. Otto was not informed as to the nature or severity of the wound. The letter which was dated Oct. 30, was written by a nurse at the base hospital, where the young man is confined, and merely stated that Mr. Otto was wounded, did not have the use of his right arm but was getting along as well as could be expected. Mr. Otto is a member of Co. M, 328th infantry of the eighty-second division. He has been in France since the latter part of May, and in a former letter stated he had been in active service in the three great drives of the allied armies.
