I finished transcribing the obits and marriages from the Oct-Dec 1918 Altoona Times newspaper microfilm. If you were expecting to see an obit or marriage notice from this time period and it hasn't shown up, it's possible the Times didn't print it. And there were missing pages, pages with what looked like chunks of paper strewn across them when filmed, pages with the edges cut off, pages too dark to read, and a couple pages that were so faded, the whole page was white with faint gray marks. Your expected obit or marriage notice may have been on one of those. In short, this batch of newspapers wasn't in good shape when it was microfilmed. And I'm sure I missed some that were in the other city reports. Those always show up when the news articles are transcribed. Some amount only to a single line, mentioning a death. Some of today's files are 2005 obits from the Tyrone Daily Herald, who've kindly given us permission to archive their obituaries. Many thanks to TDH and to Sharon Miller for saving those for us.
