Jacob Walters was born in Waltersville which became Duncansville. In the book "A Toss of a Coin, the History of Duncansville", it mentions that Jacob's father was named David, but no other information, such as what country the family is from, or any dates for David, or who he was married to. Jacob was born in 1758 and died in 1834. My maiden name was Walters and I am a direct decendant of Jacob Walters. If anyone has any additional information, I would appreciate any help I could get in solving my brick wall. It has taken me months to even get this far and now I am stuck. Thanks ahead of time, Susan (Walters) Powers > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ >

Happy New Year! I am new to this board and I am doing research on my great great grandfather, his name is Martin Gates and his wife's name is Rachael Ellen Mayes. He is from Catherine Township and I am not sure when he died or when he was born although I think he could have been born around 1838, his son, John Henry Gates, was born in 1861 so I am just guessing on the birth year. Is there anyone out there that might have any information on him? Thanks in advance. Yes, I had the same experience. I thought it was because the last few letters of the site name were on the second line and not underlined. I just tried it with your complete (I assume) address and the same thing happened. The Fairview Cemetery list published by the Blair County Genealogical Society lists a Scottie Seese being buried in Fairview Cemetery in Altoona. DOB Aug 27 1865 DOD Nov 24 1902. It lists his residence at the time as 2008 12th avenue. Also buried in the same plot are Della E Seese 9/29/1863-12/10/1936, and Dillie Rozella Seese interred 1/17/1960 age 71. Perhaps this can lead you to his death record, which should list his parents. Terry

Hi. I thought I would remind everyone of who I was searching for. I am looking for the parents of a Scott Seese. He was born in 1867 and died in 1902 in a railroad accident. Also, I was wondering if there was a member of the list that had the last name of Cole and was related to Thomas Cross and Nina Bywater. My dad said that he visited a Robert Cole that was his cousin. He lived in the countryside in the area of Altoona. That was in 1975. Thanks in advance for any help. Brian in WI
My husband's maternal line is from Genoa, Italy and I have been privileged to learn some of his grandmother's (she died in 1997 at the age of 105!) recipes, which I am happy to share with whomever. We will be having ravioli, bracciole and sweet pizza for Christmas. (But we will have pork and sauerkrat and dumplings for New Years). Yum to ALL of it! Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Good Meal! Lyn
Good Morning List; How many remember the "Waltons TV Show"? My husband said that I sounded like "Miss Mamie and her sister" passing out their"Papa's Recipe" for Christmas. He loves to tease! I am glad I could help everyone with the Poor Man's Cake recipe.
