    1. [PABLAIR-L] Fr. LeDoux book/source questions
    2. Listers: Can someone please explain what the Fr. LeDoux books are? Do they contain baptism, marriage, death records? For what time period, and what locations? Where can a person find them if they live out of state? Does anyone know if the Carnegie Library in Oakland/Pgh. has them? Many thanks for any help answering these questions. Regards, Marybeth Corrigall northeast Ohio ACMBJC@aol.com

    1. [PABLAIR-L] DOLAN/HALL -- St. Matthew, Tyrone, PA
    2. Listers: This is a first time post, and have just learned that a child of my 2nd greatgrandmother, Mary Ann DOLAN [KELLY, 1st marriage], b. 1825, Co. Galway, Ireland, and her second husband Richard HALL was baptized at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Tyrone, PA, in 1857. The child's name was also Richard HALL. Might anyone know how I would go about contacting this church, or the appropriate diocese where these records would be held? Many thanks. Marybeth Corrigall ACMBJC@aol.com

    1. [PABLAIR-L] PAUL HECK
    2. Debbie Fisher
    3. I am searching for anyone who might know of Paul Wilmer Heck. He was born 2/21/1909 in Huntingdon County, PA. He was a son of Sarah Blanche Fisher and possibly Lewis Heck (I'm not sure on the first name). He was reared by his grandparents in Penn Township, Huntingdon Co. In the 1930 census, he was finally on his own, and living as a boarder in Huston Township, Blair Co. I do not know what became of him after that. I do not know if he married or not, but some family members think he had some sons. Family rumor has it that he was living at the foot of Williamsburg Mountain when he died. Unfortunately, there are MANY rumors about when he died, so I have no clue. If there is by any chance someone on this list who was related or knew of him, I will take any speck of info I can get. Thank you, Debbie Fisher

    1. [PABLAIR-L] PA Data Boards
    2. Just a reminder to frequently check the PA Data boards, Bedford County has a tremendous amount of data on their boards, and I have been frequently adding newspaper articles to the Blair board. You can view all the data boards here: http://www.pa-roots.com/data.html I just added this one to Blair's newspaper board today, Pen, Paste and Scissors Last week the Baptist parsonage was gladdened by the advent of a new boy baby, the son of Rev. and Mrs. Joseph R. Wood. Mrs. Catharine Wertz, widow of William Wertz, died at her home in Upper Loop, Frankstown township, Tuesday of last week, aged 74 years. BLOODLINE LIVER PILLS cure Sick Headaches, Biliousness, Dizziness, Dyspepsia and constipation, 25 cents a box, mailed by the Bloodline Co., Inc., Boston, Mass. Erastus King, veteran of the civil war and one of Roaring Spring's best known citizens, died at his home in that place Saturday after a long illness. Jacob S. Leisenring, one of the leading members of the Blair county bar, died Sunday morning at the Wayne hotel, Detroit, Mich. The deceased barrister was 62 years old. Mine host John E. Kitzinger of the Capitol hotel is making some improvements in his office, which will be a great convenience to him and to his guests, as well as add to the beauty of the place. John P. Rhody, burgess of Tunnelhill Borough, died at his home in that place Wednesday morning of last week, after an illness of several months of stomach trouble, aged 60 years. The deceased was a brother of Joseph Rhody, of this place. BLOODLINE OINTMENT cures Piles, Eczema, Salt Rheum, Old Sores, Fever Sores, Itch and all Skin Irritation, 50 cents a box, mailed by the Bloodline Co., Inc., Boston, Mass. Blair county has 59 prisoners confined in the Western penitentiary for whose keep the taxpayers must pay 35 1/2 cents per day for each convict. The Gaysport borough council held a special session last Tuesday evening and considered the question of a sidewalk ordinance, with the results that an ordinance will be presented at the regular monthly meeting of council next month. The men in the westbound section of the East Hollidaysburg railroad yard were kept busy on the jump on Sunday, 18 trains being made up and sent over the Portage. Seven other trains were made ready, but could not be sent out owing to a lack of power to move them. Tuesday evening of last week, James M. Blyer, died at the home of his son William on Clark street with whom he made his home, the cause of his death being pneumonia. The deceased was born August 16, 1848, and was a veteran of the civil war. Interment in the Presbyterian cemetery. Upon complaint by some of our citizens, Burgess Jacobs was compelled to issue an edict to Chief of Police McGraw to arrest all boys and girls caught coasting on the sidewalks of the town. The burgess, remembering that he was at one time a boy himself, will permit this winter sport to continue in the middle of the street. Andrew Zeek, of this place, was the victim of an accident last Friday morning that may prove fatal. He is employed as a laborer on the branch work train, and in some manner fell from it striking his head on a rail. He was removed to the Altoona hospital, where an examination showed that his skull had been fractured at the base of the brain. Melvin Bailey, who lives on the outskirts of DuBois, saw a pig chewing something that looked like banknotes and taking it from the animal's mouth found that it was a roll of bills. By searching around in the straw he found $500 when all was added together. How they got in the straw is a mystery he cannot explain. Robbers who entered the store of J. B. Curry, the general merchant of Falls Creek, Clearfield county, secured goods to the amount of $500. Fifteen overcoats and twenty suits were taken. There is no clue to the riflers but the fact that there have been many tramps loafing in that vicinity recently, makes people believe that persons of that class are the guilty parties. 1. [PABLAIR-L] Lime and Stone Quarries in & near Tyrone Borough, Pa
    2. sue
    3. The Tyrone Lime and Stone Company was owned and operated by the Arthur Vanneman family of Tyrone during the first half of the 1900's. There are many dormant limestone quarries in the area. Checking the 1910 Tyrone Borough Census (ED 89 - visit 46), a Thomas Nash (wife Elizabeth, Thomas born in Ireland), states that he was foreman of a "stone quarry". During the time my husband grew up in Tyrone (1940's - 1970), there were only 2 active lime quarries near Tyrone, the one mentioned above and one 6 miles from Tyrone (in Pemberton). Hope this helps, Sue

    1. [PABLAIR-L] List of emigrants to Blair/Cambria Counties from Bavaria, Germany
    2. Sue
    3. Hello to all, The following people were some of the 19th century emigrants to the state of Pennsylvania whose original homeland was located in the German state of Bavaria. After their arrival to America, these emigrants settled in the Pennsylvania towns of ALTOONA, located in Blair County, and CARROLLTOWN, located in Cambria County. Their Bavarian villages of origin were found to be in the vicinity of Deggendorf, located in the middle and eastern section of Bavaria called Niederbayern. These emigrants were people I have found while working on my own Pennsylvania/Niederbayern genealogy research, and are provided here to possibly help others who are doing research in these Pennsylvania towns. The columns in this list represent surname, given name, date of record, type of record found, name of home village.
