    3. Abby, Staying in Altoona is no big deal. Not counting possible road construction, you are only 15 minutes from the BCGS building. There are several national chains on the southwestern side of Altoona. Which means you don't even come near downtown. My wife and I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard and it is very nice and priced competitively. abby bowman wrote: >This is a multi-part message in MIME format. > >--Boundary_(ID_QrV8+vjzyISCJiNslx6Uqg) >Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii >Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT >Content-disposition: inline > >Anyone have any suggestions on a place to stay that is near the BCGS? > >Thanks, > >Abby > >--Boundary_(ID_QrV8+vjzyISCJiNslx6Uqg) >Content-type: text/x-vcard; name=abbybowman.vcf; charset=windows-1252 >Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT >Content-disposition: attachment; filename=abbybowman.vcf >Content-description: Card for abby bowman <abbybowman@comcast.net> > >begin:vcard >n:;abby >version:2.1 >email;internet:abbybowman@comcast.net >end:vcard > > >--Boundary_(ID_QrV8+vjzyISCJiNslx6Uqg)-- > > >==== PABLAIR Mailing List ==== >Blair County township maps: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/maps/pa/county/blair/usgs/ > > > >

    3. I would recommend the Hampton Inn on Plank Road in Altoona, your breakfast is included in the price of the room. Close by is a new Cracker Barrel, Don Pablo's (Mexican), Outback Steakhouse, TGI Friday's, etc. It's only five minutes to Hollidaysburg from there. You are right across from the Logan Valley Mall and Walmart and TJ Maxx are right down the street. (In case you want to do any shopping in addition to doing your genealogy research!)

    1. [PABLAIR-L] Thanks for the thank yous
    2. Judy Banja
    3. Hi PABLAIR Rooters, Thanks for all the thank you notes I've been receiving. I'm glad you're finding the Blair archives helpful. Four notes to y'all from the sunny, 80+ degree suburbs of Atlanta, GA: 1. I hate hunting through all the archives pages for new material, so I added a What's New link on the main Blair archives page. You can take a "shorter cut" than that by bookmarking this url and checking it frequently for new goodies. I update this page with each file upload. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/pa/blair/whatsnew.htm 2. Just a reminder that Blair Archives needs your files. Collections of obits , city directory lists, wills, land records, etc. you've collected for your particular individual surnames are especially welcomed. You'll be helping others, especially newbies (we were all newbies once, remember?) and connecting with cousins. Email me for details. 3. We have an MSN Group for folks to start THEIR OWN Blair county photo albums, http://groups.msn.com/BlairCountyPAGenealogyFamiliesPhotoAlbums but if you want your Blair ancestors' photos to be in the archives, I'm willing to create archives webpages for your scanned photos, grouped by surname. Archives rules say I'm not supposed to link to non-USGenWeb websites, but there's plenty of room in the archives for all our data, plain text files and photos, too. Again, please email me for details, or visit the link above to create and manage your own albums. If you already have a RootsWeb OR non RootsWeb Blair-county-related webpage, of photos or other information, you can add your url to this page: http://resources.rootsweb.com/USA/PA/Blair/ 4. Thanks and KUDOS to Annie Whiteman for a great RootsWeb mailing list. Hope you find your lost files, Annie. I can tell you my heart's still in my mouth when I'm uploading to the archives, lest some catastrophe happen and I'd have to start over again rebuilding all those folders and files. Shudder. Again, thanks to all for your kind words and support, Judy Banja http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/pa/blair/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~pabcgs/ http://groups.msn.com/BlairCountyPAGenealogyFamiliesPhotoAlbums http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/pa/fulton/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/pa/centre/

    1. [PABLAIR-L] Annie Whiteman is the best!
    2. Annie has spent countless time helping me search for my ancestors and her help has resulted in some great finds. As a result of one of her obits I was able to completely piece together my great grandmother's sibling group. She has helped me find my other great grandmother's grave and even gave me directions to the cemetery. She has spent hours over the years corresponding with me, sharing her knowledge and great intuition when it comes to finding clues. I have joined other lists but no one (anywhere) tops Annie. You are simply the best and I am glad we can take a moment when you're feeling some frustration to let you know our appreciation and hopefully ease things just a bit. Sally C. Oklahoma

Patti ----- Original Message ----- From: <Dahbonnar@aol.com> To: <PABLAIR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 14, 2003 9:48 AM Subject: [PABLAIR-L] Annie Whiteman - My Hero I just wanted to say a very public thank you to my hero - Annie Whiteman. In addition to all the wonderful services Annie offers as List Administrator and Blair County Co-Coordinator, she also constantly scans Obituaries, offering them to the list with so much information even I can't miss a distant relative lurking there! And, in addition to that, she worries so about a group of Obituaries she'd scanned and prepared for us (that AOL lost) that she's now duplicating her hard work so we won't miss a single one. Annie, you're one in a million, and I can't possibly thank you enough for everything you've contributed to my ancestral database. T H A N K Y O U.
