Please include my heartfelt sympathy to Annie's husband and her family for their great loss. She had such a sweet and giving spirit. She was a very special person, loved by many. I, too, have met her, and like others, she has helped me with my research. I will miss hearing from her. Connie Morris, NC --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Annie had a great love for her family and grandchildren. She had been the former librarian and member of the Blair County Genealogical Society and director of the PA Genealogical Web site, GenWeb. Annie was a volunteer at the Womens Homeless Shelter. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Plank, Stitt and Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg (www.pssfh.com). Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
Please pass along my condolences to Annie's family. I never met her over the past 6-7 years that we have communicated through the list and over obit requests, but she almost always included a personal note encouraging my continuing family tree research efforts. I will miss her support and daily efforts to supply the information that we all seek to better know our ancesters and thus ourselves! This holiday season, I found myself reflecting on how many Christmas cards arrived in my mailbox from my genealogy friends throughout the U.S. and even one from Europe. And I also enjoyed finding warm e-mail greetings in my inbox from distant cousin/researchers I had worked with but hadn't talked to for awhile. It amazed me how in the genealogy world, our sense of caring and love for family extends far beyond our immediate relatives. And now with Annie's passing, I'm once again astounded by the loving bonds her simple and kind gestures created. Annie sent me many wonderful pieces of information, and every time I saw a post from her I couldn't wait to read it, either because I knew it would offer an intriguing or nostalgic glimpse into history, or a glimpse into Annie's world! I'd often tell my sister about the funny Annie lady in Blair County, and we would laugh about her antics! Thanks to Annie's family for sharing her with all of us! You have my deepest sympathies. I was shocked to hear about Annie. Please give my condolences to her family. She will always be in my heart. She has helped me so much over the past few years. I met Annie about 5 years ago at the Genelogical Society. I emailed her and told her I was making a trip home and that I would like to stop by and introduce myself. She was there on that Wednesday evening and we talked and she even took time to lookup an obit for me. She was such a happy person and I'm glad I was among many who got to meet her. She will be sadly missed. I would also like to make a donation in her name. Sometimes we don't realize how many people we touch when we do something nice. I hope Annie is looking down and smiling right now, thanks to all of our tributes. I am not a regular list contributor, but I have surely benefited from my membership because of Annie's help! When Annie posted the Dear Santa letters, I decided to share them with my high school history class since we are studying the twenties era. They really responded to these letters! They were amazed at how these children wanted things the students today take for granted, like an orange or fuel (coal) for heat! And the Pennsylvania children were SO considerate back then--baking cookies and making sure Santa has no obstacles in reaching their houses. We made many comparisons and it was truly a worthwhile activity. I must have been one of the last listers to contact her directly and thank her for providing the Santa letters for all of us. She warmly responded and seemed very proud to have helped out. I will also miss Annie. She has helped me out with both my teaching and my family tree. I hope she's meeting all the ancestors up there! I cant think of words to describe on how I feel. But I will say to the family and her friends that you have my prayers and thoughts. There is a void and it is hard to say all the things Annie meant to different people. All the work she put into the genealogy and into Pablair site. For the family you will always have her in your heart and that no one can take that away from you. And the same for her friends. I only knew her from on line. But she impressed me on how she handled herself and how she made others feel important. She may be gone from us but she will not be forgotten. WHEN I'M GONE When I come to the end of my journey And I travel my last mile, Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned And remember only the smile. Forget unkind words I have spoken; Remember some good I have done. Forget that I ever had heartache And remember I've had loads of fun. Forget that I have stumbled and blundered And sometimes fell by the way. Remember I have fought some hard battles And won, ere the close of the day, then forget to grieve for my going, I would not have you sad for a day, But in the summer just gather some flowers And remember the place where I lay, And come in the evening When the sun paints the sky west, Stand for a few moments beside me And remember only my best. *My sister passed away in July and this was on her Memorial Card and it reminded me of "PRECIOUS ANNIE" who treated us all like family

I would like to extend to Annie's family and to you her friends my deepest and sincere sympathies. I was very shocked this morning when I read my emails about her passing. She has helped me so much in the past. I just read Ken Boonie's tribute and thought it to be very touching; perhaps Annie in her own special way will continue the searches for all of us and we will find that missing bit of information just happens to fall in our laps completely out of the blue and for no apparent reason. While my time is limited, my family already complains about how much time I spend researching; I would also be willing to help continue Annie's work. Just let me know what I can do. Thanks Frank Bobak
