    3. Well, the same name in Portuguese is Joaquim, and I always heard it given the English equivalent of John or Jack. > -----Original Message----- > From: paberks-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:paberks-bounces@rootsweb.com] > On Behalf Of Sharon Kleinstuber > Sent: Friday, August 17, 2012 6:12 PM > To: mailing list Berks County > Subject: [PABERKS] Joachim > > > > > > Anyone know what the English equivalent of the German given name "Joachim" > would be? 3. Thanks. I was thinking maybe Jacob, but have not been able to find anyplace to confirm that, or any name translation or nichname. 3. It's not a popular name in English, but I think the standard form is Joachim, straight from the Bible, and I've never heard a nickname for it. Joaquin in Spanish (Mexico) is pretty common.
