This is what I do know: A) He died on Nov. 24, 1883 in Reading, Pa (at the Alms House in Cumru Twp) B) He lived to be 101 years, 3 months and 9 days - making his birth date to be approx. Aug 15, 1782 in Philadelphia. C) He was married to Catharine Garner (who I have no info on, but her maiden name appears on their son Frederick Hains church burial record) D) Children listed in 1883 obituary: (my direct line) Frederick Ulrich Haines aka Fred Hains (b. 25 Mar 1825 d. 09 Nov 1893), wife Catherine Dietrich (b. 02 Mar 1828 d. 14 Mar 1892); (others whom I don't know much about) John Hains who lived 6 miles below Reading; Henry Hains (of Phila.); Unknown daughter wife of Conrad Baker (of Phila.); Unknown daughter wife of William Baetzel (of Phila.); and Jane Hains (of Chicago, Illinois) E) He moved to Exeter in 1841 when he was 59 years old. Stayed there about 5 years. F) He bought a farm in GIbraltar where he farmed until about 1863. G) He was a huckster and believed to have had the first truck (produce in those days) business in Reading, PA. H) His son Fred, was also a huckster in Reading at 239 Penn Street. I) John was supposedly buried at the Lutheran cemetery according to the obit and his death record at the Register of Wills in Reading, however, when I went to Trinity Lutheran in Reading, they have no record of it....but they do have records that state Fred, his wife and sons are all buried in their cemetery. I went to the cemetery where they are supposed to be buried and there were no headstones. I'm really stumped here, but the man who maintains the graveyard said many people were moved to larger cemeteries...where would I find records of this? ----------- Any help with his parents or siblings or other ancestors would be greatly appreciated.
