I checked the land grants at the PA Archives,1733-1957,found nothing prior to 1810. However the census shows that there were Schmehls in Ruscombmanor Twp. as early as 1790, and Adam was a RW veteran, so he must have been there. DB 24 p. 330, Aug. 14, 1810 Adam Schmehl to Conrad Schmehl....Tract No. 1 (unreadable size), Tract No. 2 (34 acres 35 perches), Tract No. 3 (5 acres 145 perches) They being the same tracts which John Penn and Richard Penn Esquire on July 6, last past [1810] did grant to Adam Schmehl party hereto...and now hereby granted to Conrad Schmehl. Attached is a photo from 1994 that I got from a member of BCAGP that apparently was taken at a ceremony to install a new headstone for Veteran John Adam Schmehl.
