I have new information on the burial ground and thought you would be interested. For all Berks subscribers, the Sassamanhausen BG is located in Maxatwany Township, Berks County, and is one of the hundreds of family burial grounds scattered on farmland throughout the county. The Sassamanhausen, like many others, is in dire need of work to restore, preserve and maintain it. For information on work being done on these burial grounds, you can visit the Berks County Association for Graveyard Preservation (BGAGP) at http://bcagp.berkshistory.org/ or on Facebook. Some of these burial grounds can be found at Find-A-Grave. Most of them go by the family name of the folks who set aside the burial grounds for use by their families, so search for your surnames in Berks County.
