She is not. Since my inquiry, with a lot of searching, hunches, and luck, I have found that my grandmother, Inez, and her sister, Kathleen, were born in Maryland of Charles E. McCord and Unity Stayton. Their father, Charles, came from Ireland. I am now faced with the common dilemma of an Irish immigrant ancestor with a most common Irish name. The Staytons are a well-established Maryland family but I have been unable to locate any family historian who can tell me anything about Unity.
