Find a grave is a good source of cemetery information, but there are local sources that are as good or better. In Allen County Indiana the Mary Penrose Daughters of the American Revolutions has photographed most of the smaller cemeteries in Allen County, and are now working on the large cemeteries. These photos are all on line at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~inallcem/ The nice thing about this site is they start in the front corner and photograph every grave until they get to the back opposite corner. If there is a stone there is a picture, so if your ancestor is not there, the stone does not exist. Interestingly for one of my ancestors we were able to identify his stone in a photo of an unreadable stone. I had found the receipt for his tombstone is some very old papers I inherited. Based on the invoice and the photo we identified his stone. The DAR placed the invoice on their site along with the picture. I wonder how many 130 year old stones have been identified using the original purchase order? Guns get blamed in shootings because the liberals say teaching the Ten Commandments with "Thou shall not kill" violate the separation of Church and State. Never found a headstone through a receipt. But did find in an estate accounting for one of my ancestorsand entry for payment to the carpenter that built his coffin. The carpenter owned a furniture building company. > Date: Sat, 29 Dec 2012 14:53:27 -0500 > From: keith_nuttle@sbcglobal.net > To: paberks@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [PABERKS] Terrible act > > Find a grave is a good source of cemetery information, but there are > local sources that are as good or better.
