For a specific date you need to got to the year and select the month and day from the newspaper icons. Sometimes typing a term or phrase in the Google News field will yield results and sometimes not. Adding Reading Eagle to the search terms sometimes narrows it down to the Reading Eagle and sometimes not. Watch out for missing issues, they can sometimes be included in the issue from the date before or after. It isn't a perfect world but it's better than no access. You might also want to try a search at the Recorder of Deeds in Berks County.
