    3. Hello, I plan a research trip to Reading in the next few weeks during which I would like to locate the original court records for a case described in Volume I of "Reports of Cases Adjudged in the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania..." by Hon. Jasper Yeates, published 1871, pages 440-442. This case was for ejectment from land in Amity Township, with the plaintiff listed as Timothy Peaceable, lessee of Benjamin Bioren, vs. Jacob Keep. The reported appeal, heard at the January 1795 Supreme Court Session, was for a case originally tried before Supreme Court Justice Smith at the assizes session at Reading in May 1795 and includes testimony about incidents and disputes dating back to 1732. My goal is to locate the original records of the May 1795 assizes case and any other court records including depositions, deeds, etc. related to the dispute. Is the Berks County Courthouse likely to have these records in its archives, and if so, how do I go about requesting access to them? Thank you for any research advice you can provide, Diana Lehman

    3. I have been to Reading twice to do research. You can either call or go to the courthouse and tell themwhat you are looking for and request the files. Chances are they are archived off site, the ones I wanted tosee were, and they will call over to the archives and have them sent over to the courthouse. It is best to make contact the day before you would plan on looking at the file because usually it takes a dayto get them over to the courthouse from the archives. They usually only call the archives once or twice a dayto give them a list of what has been requested. > From: dclehman@rcn.com > To: PABERKS@rootsweb.com > Date: Sat, 26 Jan 2013 10:16:22 -0500 > Subject: [PABERKS] 1795 court case, Berks County > > Hello, > > > > I plan a research trip to Reading in the next few weeks during which I would > like to locate the original court records for a case described in Volume I > of "Reports of Cases Adjudged in the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania..." by > Hon.
