As far as I know, there's no alternative for this list unless either I or someone else sets it up on a another mailing list site. I had no intentions of doing so, but if there is still a need to keep this list going I'd be more than happy to quickly set one up on groups.io. This one on RW will be available for e-mail traffic til March 2, 2020. That's when all the lists will become a searchable archive. The Facebook group I offered up, Pennsylvania Dutch Life, is designed for a much wider audience for those of us with connections to this State. I think there is a Facebook group for Berks County but I don't know how active it is. Also I understand some of us aren't too keen for social media. Totally understandable. If you would like to go the List route, just let me know. Again...If all of you want me to set up a new list of the same name on groups.io I can do it fairly quickly and then walk all of you through the process of subbing there. From what I've been reading the process would be fairly simple. Right now that seems to be where many RW groups are heading to is Groups. As a list we've been rather quiet the past couple of years, so I'll give all of you some time to think about it. Your thoughts? Rick B
Hi Everybody: Facebook already has lists for Berks Co. Genealogy. They are more active than the Rootsweb lists. I'm on several of them including: Berks County Genealogy - 2 with same name The Reading Company Fan Page Facebook has groups for other counties as well (Schuylkill, Chester, Montgomery, Cambria, etc. For those of you not sure if you want a Facebook account, keep your account as simple as possible. You don't have to answer all the questions about yourself. You don't have to post a picture of yourself; use something else, like a pet, car, toy, whatever. If you get friend requests from people you don't know or don't want to connect to, ignore or decline them. Just use the site for connecting to groups of your choice. Lots of communities and businesses like historical societies, humane societies, churches, etc. already have groups on Facebook.
