I have Gruber ancestor's of Franklin County, PA c.1785-1855 and beyond. Michael A. Gruber of Berks County Gruber's thought that the Henrich Gruber of the 1790 Franklin County, PA. Federal U. S. Census may have been connected to Henrich b. 1747 Berks County. The 1790 Census shows three males 16 years and upward. I know that tradition has it that after selling land in Berks County supposedly Henrich b. 1747 moved first to Lancaster and then to York counties. My ancestor - - 4th great grandfather Johannes was born between 1765-1775, died 1803, and siblings Peter born 1768-1774, died 1819, and another close relative possibly another sibling Henrich b. 1772 died 1819. All died in Franklin County not sure where they born. Johannes married wife Elizabeth LNU with the following children: Children of Johannes GRUBER and Elisabeth UNKNOWN are: 5 i. Margreda (Kruber)3 GRUBER/GRUVER3 was born December 06, 1796 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Notes for Margreda (Kruber) GRUBER/GRUVER: Note 1: We have found no other information on this child of Johannes and Elisabeth except she is listed as an orphan of Johannes in the orphan court records of Franklin County, Pennsylvania. The author however, believes that she may have married someone with the last name MILLER since there is a witness listed on the will of the below Johannes named Margaret MILLER. Also, listed is a Susannah MILLER possibly a sister-in-law of Margaret. More about Margreda (Kruber) GRUBER/GRUVER: Baptism: June 18, 1797, Sponsor George Krom (?) and wife Anna Maria 6 ii. Johannes (Kruber) GRUBER/GRUVER3 was born June 07, 1798 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania; and died January 1825 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. According to the nuncupative will be had a wife, but she was not named. 7 iii. Samuel GRUBER/GRUVER was born January 03, 1800 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania; and died December 16, 1864 in Ashland (Wayne) County, Ohio. Samuel's birth date was calculated according to the cemetery headstone information in Red Haw Cemetery, Perry Township, Ashland (Wayne) County, Ohio by Neill Gruver. Church baptismal records indicate that he was born March 3, 1800. 8 iv. Annmaria GRUBER/GRUVER3 was born December 20, 1801 in Near Pleasant Hall, Franklin County, Pennsylvania and died before 1803 in Near Pleasant Hall, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Peter married Susannah Elizabeth Shearer and had two children that lived to adulthood: 17 ii. Jacob GRUBER was born March 06, 1802 in Guilford Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania; and died 1848 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. 18 iii. Elias GRUBER was born September 03, 1806 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania; and died January 25, 1881 in Perry County, Pennsylvania. Henrich married Susanna unknown and had 7 children at the time of his death in 1819 including the following: 9 i. Peter3 GRUBER3 was born October 19, 17993. 10 ii. Elisabeth GRUBER3 was born October 29, 1800. 11 iii. Margaret GRUBER 12 iv. Nancy GRUBER 13 v. Henry GRUBER 14 vi. Unknown GRUBER 15 vii. Unknown GRUBER I have seen children associated with Henrich b.1747 with similar names Johannes, Peter and Henrich - but children associated with those three sons do not match what I have for my three Gruber's. I have yet to find anyone that can provide me with a source of documentation on Henrich b. 1747 grandchildren. Is there anyone out there that descends directly from the Henrich b. 1747 of Berks County or can prove the source of his grandchildren? I would love to correspond/communicate with you. Thank you. Sincerely, Kathy Turner Thompson
Well, I don't know if I can help you much. I'm a Gruber descendent, but not down the line that you are trying to research. All I have on the Henry Gruber that you mention is an undocumented birth date of 19 Aug 1747 and a wife named Anna Margaret Klopp. If you can check out the Connected Warrantee Township Map for N. Heidelberg Twp, Berks Co., you will find a Klopp family living very near the Gruber homestead. I have no information connecting Anna Margaret to this family, not even a DOB for her. There is a Peter Klopp that appears on the map. He received a Patent 30 Mar 1810 for land originally Warranted to Leonard Gesell, who died abt 1750/1751. Leonard's widow remarried to my ancestor Henrich Freyman in 1752. The land must have been sold to Peter Klopp, or more likely, his father, before the widow's second marriage. There is also another parcel that Peter Klopp received a Patent for on the same date, 30 Mar 1810, for land originally Warranted to Nicholas CLOTT on 15 Mar 1749. This parcel is right next to the Leonard Gesell property. Nicholas may be the father of Peter as well as Anna Margaret, who married Henry Gruber. So, the circumstantial evidence points to Henry Gruber meeting and possibly marrying Anna Margaret Klopp here in Berks. Where he went from here and when, I have no idea. I hope that I've helped somewhat. Good luck in your research and be sure to post the results here if you find anything good.
