Checked Internet sources and the town hardly seems to exist, there is so little information on it. Can anyone tell me more about the town? Also, was there ever a German Reformed church in Barto, or if not, where was the nearest one? I am researching a family of German ancestry who belonged to this faith; they settled in Barto around the 1850's, but moved to Northumberland County in 1867. The little town of Barto is outside Boyertown. Barto is in or near Washington Township. My family settled in what is now Washington Township. There was a reformed church - St. Joseph's, now called Hill Church, where all my family is buried. I'm not really sure about the history of this church, but sometime it split, with part of it now being Lutheran and part reformed. The old church is the Reformed, I believe. That's the one called "Hill" church, because it is on a hill I suppose. There is a very large, old cemetery behind Hill Church, where lots of my ancestors are buried.
