To the best of my knowledge there were no churches of any denomination in Barto in the 19th century. There was a Union Church in Bechtelsville to the west and Catholic and Mennonite Churches to the east in Bally. St. Joseph's Hill Union Church (both Reformed and Lutheran) was up the hill from Barto as was Huff's Church. St. Joseph's Hill is now the Lutheran, not the Reformed denomination. Boyertown is within 5 miles of Barto and they had a German Reformed congregation there as early as 1811. Falkner Swamp Reformed Church in New Hanover, Montgomery County, was the mother of most of the local Reformed congregations. You might be surprised at how far you ancestors traveled to attend chuch. Also remember that many of the baptisms and weddings were performed in the home, by traveling ministers. What surname are you looking for?
